The Logistics Agent plays a vital role in supporting the coordination and execution of logistics operations. Working closely with port authorities, transport providers, and internal teams, this role ensures cargo is handled efficiently, transported safely, and delivered on time.
By overseeing daily field activities, monitoring transport operations, and ensuring compliance with safety and port regulations, the Logistics Agent contributes to smooth, reliable, and effective logistics operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Shipping, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in port agency, maritime operations, or shipping/logistics coordination
- Strong hands-on knowledge of port and field logistics operations in Mauritania
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to react quickly on-site
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced port environment
- Basic knowledge of cost control and invoice follow-up
- Proficiency in MS Office and reporting tools (Excel; SAP is an advantage)
- As an international company, fluency in English is required; French is highly desirable
- Strong awareness of HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards
Responsibilities
- Execute and supervise daily logistics operations on-site at the port, yard, warehouse, and delivery locations
- Ensure proper lashing, securing, loading, and unloading of all cargo types (containers, breakbulk, heavy lift)
- Monitor truck drivers and transport activities to ensure compliance with operational instructions and safety standards
- Ensure cargo is correctly handled, positioned, and delivered to the designated final destination
- Collect, verify, and manage Proof of Delivery (POD) documentation
- Identify and resolve operational issues or delays in real time to ensure smooth operations
- Verify the availability and accuracy of all required shipping and logistics documentation (Bill of Lading, delivery notes, manifests, customs documents, etc.)
- Ensure all import and export operations comply with local customs regulations, port procedures, and transport requirements in Mauritania
- Maintain accurate field records and ensure proper documentation filing
- Monitor and follow up on payments related to shipping lines, customs clearance, port charges, and other logistics services
- Assist in warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, stock control, and dispatch (if Applicable)
- Provide real-time updates and daily operational reports to the logistics team and management
- Coordinate with port authorities, customs, shipping lines, subcontractors, and service providers
- Ensure high service quality and responsiveness to operational requirements
- Maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders and authorities
- Ensure high standards of service delivery and client satisfaction at all times
- Perform other duties as required
