Picture yourself brightening someone’s day. When you join our Hotels team, that’s exactly what you’ll do every time you come to work! As a Space Optimization , you're not just maximizing the use and profitability of the hotel’s meeting and event spaces – you’re spreading the light and warmth of hospitality by delivering memorable experiences that make the stay for every guest.
Here's what you'll do during a typical day:
- Optimize group and catering space strategy: Use tools including Topline and FDC to analyze booking trends, historical performance, and demand patterns to align space allocation with revenue goals and layering strategy
- Manage inventory and space assignments: Oversee group and catering space in FDC, approve or deny space requests, and ensure efficient room-to-space ratios are maintained
- Conduct space audits and post-event analysis: Evaluate past and upcoming groups to ensure right-sizing, identify opportunities for space recovery, and inform pricing decisions including F&B minimums and space rental strategy
- Develop and maintain space optimization tools: Create and update Excel-based resources to monitor space usage, forecast demand, and track compression and availability
- Enable strategic decision-making: Partner with Sales, Events, and Revenue teams to provide group mapping, ad-hoc reporting, and analysis that supports conflict resolution, affiliate potential, pace, and market-aligned strategy shifts
- Guide free-sell strategy and approvals: Determine and update catering free-sell availability, review off-pattern requests, and recommend adjustments based on demand and profitability
- Support sales strategy execution: Train Sales team on space-to-room ratio best practices and ensure compliance to support layering and revenue optimization
