This is a key role within the Manufacturing and Operations team.  This individual will be the primary Lead Engineer for Printed Circuit Board Assembly Engineering with manufacturing supply partners in the defined region. 

Responsibilities

Be on the technology and supply chain forefront for the Manufacturing and Operations team within Supply Chain Engineering Team. As the regional factory PCBA Engineer, you will engage directly and be co-located with our in-region contract manufacturing suppliers ensuring New Product and Production Processes are developed, qualified and ready for high volume and high-quality performance in Oracle products..  In partnership with Design Engineering, External Manufacturing Supply Partners, Data Center Operations, and your Operations Engineering team peers, you will manage the external manufacturers to meet the rapidly growing and changing demands of Oracle and Partner PCBA designs.  Success requires an experienced Engineer who can navigate an ambiguous and fast-paced requirements and is capable of both strategic and deep technical engagement as required. You will need to be a self-starter, communicate effectively, and be courageous enough to challenge the status quo.

 

This role will require on-site interaction and collaboration with our EM partners in the region to resolve technical and quality related issues.  Focus of this position is on on bringing new products to market and sustaining high quality and yield performance standards throughout the lifecycle in a way that exceeds customer expectations.

  • Directs and and manages supply partners to qualify and deliver PCBA technical process capabilities for a wide range of PCBA designs.
  • Ensure PCBA Processes are in compliance with Oracle and Industry Workmanship Standards (e.g. IPC-610).
  • Possesses deep understanding and working knowledge of SMT and PTH Processes and related equipment capabilities.
  • Fluent in Lab Analysis Methods and Tools for Process Qualification and Failure Analysis
  • Capable of auditing PCBA Processes for quality and process capabilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of MDA Equipment (AOI, AXI) Capabilities
  • Solid understanding of Process Soldering Chemistries
  • Current with latest PCBA Rework Processes, qualification and standards methods.
  • Capable of performing DFM Reviews for PCBA and PCB Designs
  • Familiar with CAD Tools for viewing PCB/PCBA Designs 
  • Familiar with CAD/CAM Tools to translate design data into Mfg Data for SMT Stencil Fabrication, Placement and MDA (AOI/AXI) Programs for PCBA Quality Inspection.
  • Ability to interpret and review AXI Solder joint Images for defects impacting quality/reliability.
  • Familiar with SMT Component and Connector Interconnect Packaging Technologies  in relationship with PCBA Process Capabilities and Compatibility.
  • Experienced in Printed Wiring/Circuit Board (PWB/PCB) Technologies, Construction, Quality Standards and Defect Analysis Assessment.
  • Manages assigned suppliers to ensure timely submittal and acceptability of key technical/quality deliverables required to support Operations qualifications of new and revised product, tooling, and processes in alignment with program schedules. 
  •  Ability to complete First Article Inspection (FAI) reports, Calculate and Review Process Capability (Cpk) studies, manufacturing control plans, and quality audits. 
  • Drive assigned suppliers to meet or exceed Product Award Letter (PAL) PCBA Quality Targets and goals for continuous improvement of yields, efficiency, capacity, and throughput aimed at reducing cost and ensuring material availability.
  • Interfaces broadly across organizational levels of Design, Operations, and supplier functions to support timely and effective Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) for supplier related PCBA process quality issues during NPI and Sustaining production phases. 
  • Five years minimum direct PCBA experience and BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or similar discipline.

 

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or similar Engineering discipline 

  • 5+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing operations environment

  • Experience managing external manufacturing partners building complex PCBA’s. 

  • Membership and/or participation in Industry Standards and Associations (IPC, SMTA) 

  • Demonstrated ability to approach and resolve problems analytically, ability to present process and quality data in a clear and compelling manner.

  • Capability to lead complex and strategic project initiatives.
