Title: Product Owner
Location: Bangalore/Pune, India
Overview: Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced, customer-focused Product Owner to lead the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of capabilities for an enterprise eCommerce product. This role will partner closely with Product Manager, Engineering Manager, business stakeholders, UX, engineering, analytics, architecture, QA, operations, and external partners to translate customer needs and commercial objectives into a clear product backlog. The Product Owner will guide discovery, prioritization, sprint execution, release planning, and continuous improvement to deliver scalable, intuitive, and high-performing digital commerce experiences. The ideal candidate combines strong Agile product ownership, ecommerce domain knowledge, data-driven decision-making, and excellent stakeholder communication to improve conversion, adoption, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
Own and communicate the ecommerce product vision, roadmap, priorities, and success measures in alignment with business goals and customer needs.
Manage and prioritize the product backlog, balancing customer value, revenue impact, operational efficiency, technical feasibility, risk, and dependencies.
Partner with commercial, sales, marketing, customer service, operations, UX, analytics, and technology stakeholders to gather requirements and define clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
Lead product discovery for ecommerce features such as product discovery, search, navigation, product detail pages, cart, checkout, account management, promotions, pricing, order management, and post-purchase experiences.
Collaborate with engineering, architecture, QA, security, and integration teams to deliver reliable, scalable, secure, and user-friendly ecommerce capabilities.
Use analytics, customer feedback, market insights, and performance metrics to identify opportunities, validate priorities, and measure product outcomes.
Support sprint planning, backlog refinement, demos, release planning, UAT, launch readiness, and stakeholder reviews in alignment with Agile delivery practices.
Define and validate acceptance criteria to ensure delivered features meet business objectives, customer expectations, usability standards, and operational needs.
Coordinate cross-functional dependencies across ecommerce platforms, content, catalog, pricing, payments, fulfillment, customer data, integrations, and support processes.
Communicate roadmap priorities, release scope, delivery risks, decisions, trade-offs, and product performance clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
Drive adoption and continuous improvement by monitoring usage, conversion, customer satisfaction, support trends, and feedback after launch.
Qualifications:
6-8 years of experience in product ownership, product management, business analysis, ecommerce, digital platforms, or enterprise application delivery.
Demonstrated experience defining product roadmaps, managing backlogs, writing user stories, and prioritizing work based on customer value, business impact, technical feasibility, and stakeholder needs.
Strong understanding of ecommerce capabilities and customer journeys, including search, browse, product information, pricing, promotions, cart, checkout, account, order management, fulfillment, and post-purchase support.
Experience working with Salesforce, PIM, ERP, CRM, payments, tax, shipping, analytics, personalization, or marketing technology solutions.
Ability to translate business objectives, customer needs, and operational requirements into clear functional requirements for engineering, UX, QA, and delivery teams.
Experience using analytics, customer feedback, A/B testing, funnel metrics, conversion data, and operational insights to guide product decisions and measure outcomes.
Experience working in Agile Scrum teams, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, demos, retrospectives, release planning, and user acceptance testing.
Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with business users, technology teams, UX, analytics, vendors, architects, QA teams, operations, and leadership.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain product priorities, customer needs, trade-offs, and delivery decisions to technical and non-technical audiences.
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to balance strategic product direction with day-to-day delivery decisions.
Experience with product management and delivery tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, Miro, or similar platforms.
Knowledge of B2B ecommerce, digital merchandising, customer experience design, API integrations, data flows, or omnichannel commerce is preferred.
Relevant certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner, SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager, Pragmatic Institute, ecommerce, analytics, cloud, or platform certifications are preferred.
