CLO Primary Desk - Structuring - Vice President
The CLO Primary desk is seeking a high-performing candidate to join a premier CLO arranging platform. As a Vice President on the CLO structuring team, you will drive end-to-end transaction structuring and execution with increasing autonomy across both broadly syndicated loan (BSL) and private credit CLOs (PCLO). The role requires strong judgment, client-facing communication skills, and the ability to lead multiple workstreams in a high-paced deal environment, with the objective of developing into a deal team lead.
The CLO desk sits within the broader credit franchise and interacts closely with leveraged loan trading, sales, private credit financing, and syndicate, operating as a dynamic banking function within a markets business. The team is committed to a collaborative and supportive culture that emphasizes shared ownership, transparency, and continuous development.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead CLO transactions from launch through closing with minimal supervision, owning key workstreams, timelines, and deliverables
- Originate and advance opportunities through regular dialogue with CLO managers, issuers, and investors
- Maintain strong awareness of CLO market dynamics and communicate market color to internal and external stakeholders
- Develop and maintain a point of view on issuer clients (pipeline, performance, and structural preferences)
- Review, analyze, and negotiate CLO documentation and structural terms; identify, escalate, and resolve issues early
- Negotiate stipulations with a comprehensive understanding of impacts to investors, managers, and rating agency modeling assumptions
- Manage deal evolution while in-market; assess how changes to pricing, documentation, and terms affect structure and ensure updates are reflected in analysis and marketing materials
- Partner closely with syndicate, analytics, and sales to deliver coordinated execution and high-quality client coverage
- Lead client calls and clearly explain structural nuances and deal specifics (capital structure, documentation terms, collateral, key risks)
- Take ownership on the marketing materials, ensuring quality control and consistency
- Train, develop, and oversee junior team members; manage workflow and uphold analytical and execution standards
- Contribute to business management, including monitoring desk performance and communicating priorities to senior management
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Prior experience in CLO structuring/execution (BSL and/or private credit) or closely related structured credit role
- Strong working knowledge of CLO documentation, transaction mechanics, and deal execution processes
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex transactions and multiple parallel deadlines
- Strong client-facing communication skills and relationship management capabilities
- Strong quantitative and analytical skillset (advanced Excel required; Python/VBA a plus)
- High attention to detail, sound judgment, and strong ownership mindset in a fast-moving environment
- Familiarity with rating agency criteria and the CLO ratings process
- Existing CLO manager and/or investor relationships and demonstrated ability to drive origination is a plus
- SIE, Series 7, Series 63 and Series 79 licenses are required
