Turner Staffing Group is seeking a Senior Accountant on behalf of our client, an exciting new mining operation in the Winnemucca, Nevada area. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing team as the operation prepares to transition into production, helping establish the financial systems and controls that will support long-term operational success.
The Senior Accountant will serve as a key member of the site leadership team, responsible for financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, month-end close activities, and operational financial analysis. This role partners closely with operations, maintenance, procurement, and corporate accounting to provide timely financial information that supports sound business decisions.

Essential Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
- Coordinate and manage the site month-end close process, including accruals and departmental reporting.
- Prepare internal cost reports, operational analyses, and key performance metrics.
- Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Partner with site leadership to improve financial performance and cost controls.
- Collaborate with corporate accounting to ensure consistency in accounting policies and procedures.
- Coordinate cross-functional accounting projects and process improvements.
- Support internal and external audit activities.
- Prepare and maintain SOX compliance documentation and internal controls.
- Analyze operational costs and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including annual physical inventories.
- Assist with inventory accounting and valuation of materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
- Maintain accurate financial records while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive accounting or financial analysis experience.
- Strong understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple departments.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred
- Mining, heavy industrial, manufacturing, or natural resources accounting experience.
- Cost accounting experience in an operational environment.
- ERP system experience (Pronto ERP or similar preferred).
- Experience with inventory accounting and fixed asset management.
- Experience supporting internal and external audits.
- Knowledge of procurement, inventory, and work order management processes.
- Experience developing and improving financial reporting processes.
Physical & Work Environment
- Primarily office-based within an active mining operation.
- Occasional travel throughout the mine site to support inventory counts, operational reviews, and fixed asset verification.
- Ability to work in an industrial environment while following all required safety procedures.
- Periodic standing, walking, and working outdoors during operational activities.
