About the Team

The AI Services team builds the AI agents and automation infrastructure that makes Salesforce's engineering organization AI-first. We deliver intelligent agents, quality scoring systems, and self-service frameworks that replace manual processes with automation. Our tools are used daily by engineers across the platform organization, and the scope is expanding to thousands of engineers across multiple clouds.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Member of Technical Staff to design and build AI agents that fundamentally change how engineering teams approach quality and productivity. You will create intelligent agents that reason, plan, use tools, and execute multi-step workflows autonomously. These agents will handle everything from automated test generation to failure triage to codebase analysis, replacing manual processes with systems that learn and improve.

This is a hands-on agent engineering role. You will design agent architectures, implement tool-use patterns, build memory and context systems, and ship agents that run reliably at scale. We build with AI to build AI agents. The team ships continuously and iterates fast.

What You Will Do

  • Design and build AI agents from the ground up: define their goals, tool access, context strategies, planning approaches, and evaluation criteria

  • Create specialized agents for quality and productivity workflows (dev orchestration, test authoring, code review, failure triage, validation strategy, codebase migration)

  • Build the agent orchestration layer that coordinates multiple agents into reliable, end-to-end workflows with handoffs, retries, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints

  • Build and scale the AI Quality Readiness scoring platform that measures how prepared teams are for AI-first development: code structure, documentation quality, test patterns, Second Brain / Project Brain configuration, and repository health

  • Create onboarding and remediation tooling that helps teams configure their repositories for AI effectiveness, including Second Brain / Project Brain integration and knowledge base setup

  • Design the agent contribution ecosystem: shared toolchains, agent registries, and plugin architectures that allow teams across the organization to build, share, and compose agents

  • Instrument, evaluate, and iterate on agent performance using production usage data, automated evals, and feedback loops

  • Integrate agents with internal developer infrastructure: CI/CD systems, test frameworks, code review tools, and collaboration platforms

What We Are Looking For

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience building production systems at scale

  • Strong proficiency in Java, Python, or TypeScript

  • Experience building AI agents or agentic systems (structured prompting, tool use, multi-step reasoning, context management)

  • Solid understanding of software testing, CI/CD pipelines, and developer tooling

  • Track record of designing systems that operate reliably in large-scale, multi-tenant environments

  • Ability to break down ambiguous problems into iterative, shippable increments

  • Ability to drive adoption across engineering teams through quality of tooling and developer experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building developer productivity tools or internal platforms used broadly across an engineering organization

  • Experience with large-scale test infrastructure, test selection, or test generation systems

  • Experience building scoring, metrics, or code intelligence systems

  • Familiarity with static analysis, linting infrastructure, or developer insight tooling

  • Background in quality engineering, test automation, or DevOps

  • Experience working in large enterprise codebases with complex build and deployment systems
