About The Role:

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring supplier quality performance and compliance for aerospace electronic products and PCBA manufacturing. You will lead supplier audits, investigations, and improvement initiatives, working closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues, drive continuous improvement, and ensure adherence to aerospace, IPC, and customer requirements. This role is ideal for a quality professional with strong electronics manufacturing expertise and a passion for supplier development and operational excellence.

What You Will Do:

  • Supplier Performance Evaluation: Conduct regular assessments of supplier quality metrics to ensure adherence to established standards, contractual requirements, and aerospace quality expectations, including PCBA and electronic manufacturing processes.

  • Root Cause Analysis: Identify and analyze complex quality issues related to electronic components, PCBA, soldering, assembly, and related manufacturing processes, determining root causes and developing effective corrective and preventive actions.

  • Continuous Improvement Leadership: Lead small-scale improvement projects focused on enhancing supplier processes and product quality through the implementation of best practices, with particular attention to electronic manufacturing, PCB assembly, and aerospace-specific requirements.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with procurement, engineering, production, and quality teams to align supplier quality objectives with overall business goals and technical requirements.

  • Quality Documentation and Reporting: Develop and maintain comprehensive quality reports and documentation to track supplier performance, nonconformities, corrective actions, and improvement plans, ensuring traceability and compliance with applicable standards.

  • Supplier Audits and Technical Assessments: Lead supplier audits, technical reviews, and process assessments with focus on electronics manufacturing, PCBA processes, component traceability, workmanship quality, and compliance with customer and aerospace requirements.

  • Project Coordination: Coordinate APQP activities related to supplier onboarding into the project, including part approval activities in line with PPAP requirements and applicable aerospace standards, such as AS9145.

  • Compliance and Standards Management: Ensure supplier adherence to relevant industry standards and workmanship requirements, including IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620 where applicable, and other internal JTD standards or customer-specific requirements related to electronic assemblies and aerospace products.

What You Will Need:

  • Quality Management: Proficient in implementing and maintaining quality management systems to ensure supplier compliance, product standards, and aerospace quality requirements.

  • Electronics and PCBA Experience: Solid experience in electronics manufacturing environments, including PCBA, PCB assembly, soldering processes, inspection criteria, component placement, rework, and failure analysis.

  • IPC Standards Knowledge: Knowledgeable in IPC standards, especially IPC-A-610/JTD and other relevant workmanship and assembly standards, with ability to apply them in supplier evaluations and quality investigations.

  • Aerospace Experience: Experience working in the aerospace industry or with aerospace customers, including awareness of strict traceability, documentation, configuration control, and compliance expectations.

  • Root Cause Analysis: Skilled in identifying and analyzing root causes of quality issues to develop effective corrective actions in electronic and aerospace-related processes.

  • Statistical Analysis: Expertise in utilizing statistical tools and methodologies for quality data analysis and process optimization.

  • Supplier Assessment: Experienced in evaluating and auditing suppliers, particularly in electronics and PCBA manufacturing, to ensure adherence to quality and performance standards.

  • Project Management: Capable of managing quality improvement projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely and successful outcomes. Experience with part/production transition projects.

  • Process Improvement: Adept at identifying and implementing process enhancements to increase efficiency and product quality in electronics and aerospace supply chains.

  • Effective Communication: Excellent in conveying complex quality information clearly and building consensus among cross-functional teams.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong ability to develop innovative solutions to complex quality challenges based on comprehensive data analysis.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Knowledgeable in industry regulations and standards to ensure supplier and product compliance, including aerospace-specific quality and documentation requirements.

  • Leadership: Able to guide and mentor less experienced colleagues and lead small-scale projects with minimal oversight.
