Compensation:
We feel passionately about transparency in compensation. Total compensation for this role is market competitive, offering a base salary range of $190,000 - $230,000, with an annual target bonus of 15% of base salary.

About the Role

Snappy is seeking a pragmatic, business-minded Associate General Counsel to serve as a key member of our lean legal team. This is a broad, high-impact role for an attorney who can independently lead commercial contracting, partner closely with business teams, improve legal operations and help the company navigate the legal issues that arise in a growing SaaS-type business.

You will work closely with the General Counsel and leaders across Sales, Partnerships, Product, Engineering Operations, Finance, Marketing, People, and IT. The right candidate will combine strong judgment and drafting skills with an ability to move quickly, communicate clearly and distinguish material risk from issues that can be handled pragmatically.

You Will:

  • Own and independently negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including enterprise customer agreements, SaaS agreements, marketplace and channel partnerships, retail and fulfillment arrangements, vendor agreements, data protection agreements, professional services agreements, marketing agreements and other strategic transactions.

  • Provide timely, practical and business-oriented legal advice to Sales, Partnerships, Product,Operations, Finance, Marketing, People and other internal stakeholders.

  • Serve as a primary legal partner for strategic and revenue-generating initiatives, helping teams’ structure new products, partnerships, programs and go-to-market models in a scalable and compliant manner.

  • Lead legal support for enterprise deals and customer diligence, including privacy, security, compliance, insurance and product-related questions.

  • Draft, maintain and improve standard agreements, fallback positions, negotiation playbooks, approval frameworks and self-service resources.

  • Develop and improve contracting and legal intake processes to reduce friction, accelerate deal cycles and create better visibility into legal work and contractual commitments.

  • Partner with Product teams on data protection, AI, product counseling and regulatory issues, including the review of new tools, data uses and customer-facing functionality.

  • Support corporate, employment and general legal matters as needed, including policy development, dispute management, compliance initiatives and coordination with outside counsel.

  • Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments and translate them into practical guidance for the business.

  • Help build a strong legal function by sharing knowledge, documenting processes and supporting cross-functional training.

 

You Have:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar.

  • Approximately 6+ years of relevant legal experience, including substantial commercial contracting experience; a combination of law firm and in-house experience is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently draft and negotiate sophisticated B2B commercial agreements.

  • Strong working knowledge of SaaS, technology, privacy and data protection issues. Experience with marketplaces, payments, gift cards, rewards, loyalty programs, channel partnerships or retail relationships is particularly valuable.

  • Excellent judgment and the ability to identify the issues that matter, propose workable solutions and escalate appropriately.

  • Ability to manage a high volume of matters, prioritize effectively and deliver high-quality work in a fast-moving environment.

  • Clear, concise and adaptable written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain legal issues to non-lawyers.

  • A collaborative, low-ego approach and a willingness to be hands-on across both strategic and day-to-day matters.

  • Comfort operating with autonomy while keeping the General Counsel and key stakeholders appropriately informed.
