Product Functional Test Mechanical Technician

We are looking for a talented Product Functional Test Mechanical Technician to join our team, specialising in Engineering, for our Testing Laboratory in Cwmbran, Wales. 

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Deliver accurate, repeatable brake test results by following established test procedures and methodologies and consistently producing reliable data.
  • Build, repair, and prepare test articles and auxiliary equipment, enabling test programmes to progress efficiently and safely.
  • Install test articles into appropriate test structures (test cells, tables, rigs) with correct orientation and boundary conditions to maximise test validity.
  • Configure and operate data acquisition systems, reviewing and analysing results to ensure data is appropriate, reliable, and usable by engineering and customers.
  • Apply a strong understanding of test equipment functionality and its contribution to data validity, identifying issues early and protecting data integrity.
  • Use in-depth product knowledge to assess how the product under test may influence results and ensure technically sound conclusions.
  • Support effective lab operations through test stand installation, troubleshooting, setup, and the upkeep and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by participating in CI and 5S activities and providing practical recommendations for equipment, facility, and instrumentation improvements.

  • A results-driven, action-oriented approach, with confidence in troubleshooting, maintaining data quality, and delivering under pressure.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education, or equivalent experience in a relevant STEM field.
  • Significant relevant work experience or specialised skills gained through education, training, or on-the-job experience.
  • A regionally applicable certification or a two-year Associate degree in a relevant discipline may be required.
     

The compensation for this role is aligned with a local bargained or unionised agreement.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
