Associate - Digital Product Management
The Enterprise Technology Services organization partners with every part of the American Express business to power the company’s growth and innovation with trust and efficiency, and drive competitive differentiation with speed. We support the delivery and operations of technology, digital, and data capabilities, platforms, and services globally. Specifically, our team is responsible for the company’s technology engineering, architecture, and infrastructure, providing 24x7 support to ensure an uninterrupted, high-quality experience for customers and colleagues. We also provide product management for core enterprise platforms, and lead technology risk and information security, enterprise data governance and platforms, digital product and design, and enterprise AI platforms on behalf of the company.
The International Card & Services Technology (ICST) team has a mission to: Protect, Grow and Deliver on ICS ambition through co-creation at scale with speed, quality and consistency. Our team provides 4 functions to achieve this mission – Market Technology Services, Digital Product Management, Engineering and Cross-Platform Delivery. This role sits within the Digital Product Management function, helping to deepen collaboration between the ICS Business and Technology by integrating journey planning and execution to bring together International Card Services (ICS) & Technology roadmaps for efficient execution. The role will also work closely with the ICST EMEA Engineering team to deliver engineering opportunities that drive high value for EMEA markets
As this role works across multiple products and markets, to succeed as Associate Digital Product Owner, you will need to be comfortable with ambiguity. You will help with product and technical discovery, build out engineering teams’ backlog, crafting and prioritising features and stories to drive the maximum value and best customer experience in line with the ICST vision & strategy. You will execute against the ICS product roadmaps in close partnership with the ICST EMEA Engineering team , with a strong focus on Lending & Digital products.
- Supports the creation and maintenance of the product backlog, prioritizing features and user stories
- Partners closely with Product Managers to understand the vision and roadmap to be able to effectively prioritise backlog to drive ICRST outcomes
- Work closely with Senior Engineers through technical discovery of features
- Facilitates resolution of risks, issues and changes related to the product development lifecycle. Involvement includes modifications, upgrades and maintenance of products
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams including Product, Technology and other adjacent stakeholders across the business to gather and document product requirements and to ensure timely delivery of product features, following agile development methodologies
- Understands competitive and internal positioning for their product through internal and external market research
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2+ years direct associate product owner experience
- Experience in partnering closely with engineering teams
- Experience in working with a wide range of stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of Agile methodology
- Lending product or marketing experience
