Depositary Switzerland – Regulatory & Legal Oversight, Vice President

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for an experienced regulatory and legal oversight professional to join the Depositary Switzerland team within State Street Bank International (SSBI). This Vice President role is responsible for helping ensure that our Swiss depositary bank activities meet applicable regulatory, legal and fiduciary requirements, while supporting operational excellence and alignment with State Street’s broader business objectives.

The role focuses on oversight of Swiss regulatory requirements, including the Collective Investment Schemes Act (CISA), related ordinances and AMAS guidelines. Key responsibilities include reviewing and approving fund prospectuses, fund contracts and related legal documentation, as well as ensuring that State Street’s risk, independence and oversight responsibilities as Depositary are appropriately safeguarded. The role reports directly to the Head of Depositary Switzerland.

The successful candidate will work closely with Swiss clients, local colleagues and internal partners across Client Service Operations, Custody, Fund Accounting and other State Street offices. We are seeking someone with strong regulatory judgement, legal documentation expertise and the ability to collaborate effectively across functions in a complex financial services environment.

She/he will represent State Street as legal subject matter expert in industry bodies and working groups.

Depositary bank services are a fundamental part of State Street’s European business and a core component of our client offering in Switzerland. They require strong regulatory discipline, robust legal oversight and a clear understanding of the fiduciary responsibilities we assume on behalf of our clients and the funds we service.

The person in this role helps ensure that our depositary activities are properly governed, coordinated and embedded within State Street’s global operating model. This includes supporting regulatory compliance, protecting the bank’s risk position and enabling effective collaboration across legal, operations, custody, fund accounting and client service teams.

What we value:

These skills will help you succeed in this role:

•            Ability to assess regulatory change and translate it into documentation and operational requirements.

•            Proven experience in fund prospectus and fund contract review for Swiss-domiciled funds.

•            Practical understanding of FINMA approval processes and regulatory correspondence.

•            High attention to detail, with the ability to distinguish legal, regulatory, and operational risk impacts.

•            Strong communication with excellent written and verbal expression.

•            Flexible team player with the ability to process ad-hoc work and control quality 

•            Fluent German and English; additional languages are a plus.

Education & Preferred Qualifications:

  • A legal background (Swiss law degree or equivalent) is mandatory.
  • Several years of experience in the fund business; legal knowledge of the fund industry; experience liaising with authorities.
  • Knowledge of regulations: CISA and sub-ordinated, FIDLEG, FINIG, FINMAG & FINMA circulars, OR, UCITS etc.
