Clinical Nurse Specialist - Vascular Surgery/Medical PCU - Vascular Center - CNS
Located at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, this Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role supports Vascular Surgery, the Medical Progressive Care Unit (PCU) (MB8BG), and the Vascular Center within the Gonda Building.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) works collaboratively to improve the quality of patient care and promote desired patient outcomes within a designated specialty population. As an advanced practice nursing leader, the CNS functions across the three spheres of influence—Patient/Client, Nurses and Nursing Practice, and Organization/System—and partners with interdisciplinary teams to advance evidence-based practice and support nursing excellence. This role is an active participant on the nursing leadership team and contributes to shaping clinical practice, care delivery, and patient outcomes across vascular services.
This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.
- Master's degree with a major in nursing with a Clinical Nurse Specialist focus. Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree preferred.
- Experience as a CNS preferred.
- Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet patient needs and CNS workload.
- Five years of successful work experience in nursing with two years in the specialty area preferred.
License and Certifications:
- Current RN license by applicable state requirements. This RN job may require a RN license in multiple states.
- Current APRN, CNS license by applicable state requirements. If state doesn't have APRN licensure, Clinical Nurse Specialist Certification, in designated specialty by a nationally recognized body deemed acceptable by the State Board of Nursing in the state the CNS practices or a documented waiver deemed acceptable by the Board of Nursing in the state the CNS practices, when there is no Clinical Nurse Specialist Certification examination for the specialty.
- Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association (BLS for Health Care Providers), Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers), or Military Training Network. Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area is highly recommended. The certification must be valid for at least 90 days after your start date or renewed before starting if it expires within 90 days of the start date.
