Contract Technical Release Manager
Technical Release Manager
Location: UK Remote
We help organisations navigate the future of technology, combining human expertise, emerging tech and AI to deliver better outcomes, faster.
Since 2014, we’ve worked side-by-side with clients to solve complex challenges, build high-performing teams, and create lasting capability.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Technical Release Manager to join our team on a major digital transformation journey with Centrica. In this role, you will be the ultimate orchestrator of the delivery pipeline, bridging the gap between engineering, product, QA, and operations to ensure that software updates, features, and platform integrations are deployed safely, predictably, and with minimal disruption.
This is a highly collaborative, technical-adjacent coordination role. You will manage the end-to-end release lifecycle, govern environments, and align release schedules across a modern, multi-platform ecosystem.
About you:
- You care deeply about producing high-quality work that delivers real value
- You’re comfortable navigating ambiguity and solving complex problems collaboratively
- You bring strong expertise in your craft, alongside a willingness to keep learning
- You communicate clearly and build trust quickly with clients and teammates
- You’re pragmatic, adaptable and outcome-focused
- You value low-ego collaboration and enjoy working as part of multidisciplinary teams
What you’ll bring to the table:
1. Release Planning & Governance
- Release Orchestration: Define, maintain, and publish the master release calendar, aligning deployment cycles across multiple agile product squads and platforms.
- Gatekeeping & Readiness: Facilitate go/no-go readiness reviews, verifying that test coverage, security compliance, environment configurations, and rollback runbooks are complete prior to production deployment.
- Change Management: Manage release governance and coordinate approvals with client change advisory boards (CAB) or equivalent stakeholders.
2. Environment & Pipeline Management
- Cross-Platform Alignment: Coordinate release paths across a diverse, hybrid ecosystem, managing complex dependencies between cloud services, enterprise CRM, and ERP systems.
- Environment Strategy: Oversee the allocation and configuration of non-production environments (development, sandbox, QA, and staging) to prevent configuration drift and environment conflicts.
- Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams to automate build-test-deploy pipelines and drive faster, repeatable release cadences.
3. Collaboration & Communication
- Stakeholder Alignment: Act as the primary point of contact for release status, communicating schedules, technical dependencies, and post-deployment impact reports to both technical teams and senior client stakeholders.
- Incident & Hotfix Coordination: In the event of release anomalies, coordinate swift triaging, hotfix deployments, or rollback procedures with engineering and operations support teams.
Skills & Experience
Required Experience
- Release Management: Proven track record managing complex software releases and deployments in large-scale, multi-stream enterprise environments.
- SDLC & DevOps Savvy: Deep understanding of modern software development life cycles, agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), version control (Git branching strategies), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Orchestration & Detail-Oriented: Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to map intricate dependencies across parallel delivery teams.
- Stakeholder Management: Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical release risks into business impact for stakeholders.
Desirable Tech Stack Awareness (Knowledge is desirable but not essential)
- AWS Cloud Ecosystem (Serverless, infrastructure-as-code)
- Salesforce / Salesforce Industries (formerly Vlocity)
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O)
