Nimble is looking for a Construction Project Manager to lead the buildout and retrofit of warehouse fulfillment center sites that house our automation systems. You'll own projects from pre-construction through hand off to our operations team, coordinating contractors, engineers, and internal teams to deliver facilities on schedule and on budget. This role is a strong fit for a PM with hands-on warehouse or commercial construction experience who's comfortable managing multiple active sites and a fast-moving construction schedule.
What You'll Do
- Manage construction projects for new warehouse buildouts and existing facility retrofits from design through completion and closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and scopes of work; track progress against milestones and flag risks early.
- Act as the general contractor on assigned sites, serving as the primary point of contact for subcontractors, architects, and engineers.
- Organize and run project meetings as needed, including kickoffs, progress check-ins, and coordination meetings with contractors and internal teams.
- Work closely with internal departments across the project, holding them accountable to their commitments and proactively pushing to keep deliverables on track to meet deadlines.
- Conduct regular site visits and walkthroughs to monitor quality, safety compliance, and schedule adherence.
- Own the permit submission process from start to finish: work with PEs (Professional Engineers) to design and produce stamped drawings, meet directly with AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) to review requirements, submit complete permit packages, and coordinate inspections through approval.
- Support vendor and contractor bidding, selection, and contract negotiation.
- Maintain clear, consistent project documentation and status reporting for internal stakeholders and leadership.
- Identify and resolve conflicts between construction scope and operational or automation requirements.
- Respond to and resolve issues raised by onsite contractors, working quickly with the right stakeholders to keep work moving without delaying the schedule.
- Work with Accounting to create and process purchase orders for vendors and contractors
- Manage smaller-scope projects independently: identifying issues, collaborating with engineering to develop solutions, and driving each project through to completion.
- Coordinate with existing warehouse operations teams to schedule installations and retrofits
What You'll Need
- 3–7 years of experience as a Project Manager in commercial, industrial, or warehouse construction.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects independently, from pre-construction through closeout.
- Working knowledge of construction documents, budgets, schedules (e.g., MS Project or similar), and contract structures (AIA, GC/CM, or similar).
- Ability to read and interpret full construction drawing sets, including architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, and civil drawings.
- Familiarity with building systems relevant to warehouse environments; electrical, mechanical, structural, and fire/life safety.
- Strong organizational and communication skills; comfortable managing multiple contractors and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Travel is expected and will be important to maintaining an active presence onsite throughout the project lifecycle.
Nice to Have
- Hands-on technical construction skills and comfort using hand and power tools.
- Experience with fulfillment center, distribution center, or automated warehouse buildouts.
- Exposure to robotics, automation, or MHE (material handling equipment) integration timelines.
- OSHA 30-Hour certification.
- Experience working directly with landlords, developers, or third-party logistics (3PL) operators.
