Industrial Design Assistant

CopenhagenFixed term-job salaryPosted Mar 9, 2026
BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group is looking for talented students in industrial design, product design, or furniture design who are highly motivated, enthusiastic about design iterations, and eager to learn and develop their skills.

For over two decades, BIG has been on a mission to redefine what’s possible in architecture, tackling a broad spectrum of projects, ranging from master plans, landscapes, and buildings to engineering, research, and digital tools. We view all disciplines as interconnected, with BIG Products (our industrial design department) being one of the collaborating departments.

"Our BIG Product team makes product design a literal extension of our efforts in architecture. Architects rarely have the possibility to specify a building component from scratch, limiting our imagination to what is already on the shelves. Our work in furniture, lighting, transportation, and the internet of things ensures that we connect the big picture to the small details, increasing our overall influence on the built environment."

Specifically, the BIG Products team approaches design in three key areas:

Product Design & Innovation
Our architectural expertise provides insights into products that enhance and complement our spaces. Notable examples include the Keglen lamp for the Tirpitz Museum with Louis Poulsen, the VIA 57™ lounge chair for the New York high-rise with Fritz Hansen, and the Shanghai chair for the Danish Expo Pavilion with HAY. These pieces reflect our commitment to designing objects that not only function but also tell a story within the context of our architecture.
Additionally, we engage in research-driven design assignments that challenge traditional architectural solutions, such as exploring innovative alternatives for floor and ceiling coverings.

Mobility
At BIG, we see mobility as essential to the future urban landscape. Our work spans infrastructure, transportation solutions, and technologies that redefine how people move through the world. From the Pegasus pod for Virgin Hyperloop in Nevada to our design of the Ground to Air (G2A) system for the Telosa city project, we are creating new ways to connect people and places.

Installations
Our team also takes on spatial design challenges that transcend traditional architecture and product design. This includes inflatable structures like the travelling SKUM pavilion, stage scenery for Who Made Who’s live tour, the gigantic Orb sculpture for Burning Man, a mirror installation for Audi at the Salone in Milan, and the playful Puzzle House at the Swiss embassy.
