SSC Space also has one of the world’s largest global networks of ground stations for satellite communications. We own and operate the Esrange Space Center in Kiruna, northern Sweden, with the aim of launching satellites in the near future.

We operate a global network of ground stations and deliver mission-critical communication services. Our services are integral to our customers’ mission success, from launch to Lunar space operations.  

We are now expanding our Systems Engineering team and looking for both experienced and junior Systems Engineers for satellite communications. If you have experience in space operations or spacecraft communications, we especially encourage you to apply. 

Requirements

We’re looking for candidates who: 
  • Have excellent technical skills and a desire to learn new things, likely excited about the growing space industry.
  • Can communicate complex technical solutions clearly and effectively. 
  • Are comfortable writing documentation, and following, and improving, engineering processes
  • Have ability to lead own work, independently or in a team.
  • Experience with both hardware and software systems is valued, as SSC Space services span across ground infrastructure, RF systems, and software-defined mission solutions.
  • Hold a Bachelor's, Master's degree or PhD in electrical engineering, space technology, or similar.

While not required, we especially value experience in: 
  • Some years of experience in systems engineering including both hardware and software components.
  • Spacecraft operations or spacecraft communications (TT&C, mission control systems, space-ground interfaces).
  • A demonstrated drive to run projects, ideas or concepts. We’re happy to see your GitHub repos if available, or other technical projects that you have done.
  • Ground station hardware, RF signal chains, modulation/coding schemes, and protocols (e.g. CCSDS).
  • Documented knowledge of a major programming/scripting language and knowledge of software architectures and trends. 
  • Linux environments, including configuration, Docker, and networking.

Responsibilities

 As a Systems Engineer at SSC Space, you will:  

  • Lead the development and integration of customers' space missions into our service system, ensuring they have efficient and  reliable communications for successful space missions.
  • Work on development projects to improve our systems, capabilities, and service offerings.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert in discussions with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Drive projects, analyses, and technical investigations.
  • Provide technical support to sales in bids and proposals.
