Role Overview

As the HVAC Controls Systems Team Leader, you will oversee day-to-day field technician activities, plan monthly routes, and guide the team toward strong service delivery, customer satisfaction, and profitable operations. You will work closely with branch leadership, sales, and field staff to support HVAC controls execution, strengthen performance, and ensure safety and quality standards are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned field technician teams and provide clear day-to-day leadership.

  • Plan monthly technician routes and help balance workload, service demand, and customer needs.

  • Review team performance and recommend actions that improve profitability, safety, and client satisfaction.

  • Support the execution of the business and help maintain consistent service delivery systems.

  • Coordinate with sales to support service, installation, and other growth opportunities.

  • Monitor serviced account portfolios to help drive growth, healthy margins, and strong customer relationships.

  • Support staffing needs, workforce planning, and skill alignment for successful business execution.

  • Lead operational review meetings, including bid and estimate review for accuracy.

  • Ensure contractual obligations are completed and customer expectations are met.

  • Recruit, hire, retain, coach, and develop operational staff in partnership with matrix leaders.

  • Prepare and deliver performance expectations, one-on-one coaching, performance reviews, and development plans.

  • Analyze operating processes and recommend improvements that strengthen performance and service quality.

  • Support performance reviews, acquisitions, and other managerial responsibilities aligned with business strategy.

How You Will Do It

  • You will lead with accountability, safety, and integrity, making sure the team owns its results and delivers on commitments.

  • You will stay close to the work by understanding field conditions, removing obstacles quickly, and supporting customers with practical solutions.

  • You will use operational reviews, route planning, and performance data to make thoughtful decisions and improve every day.

  • You will work as one team with sales, branch leadership, matrix partners, and field staff to keep execution aligned and effective.

  • You will build a strong coaching rhythm through regular one-on-ones, clear expectations, and meaningful development plans.

  • You will monitor HVAC standards, audit results, and customer feedback to strengthen delivery quality and consistency.

  • You will address issues early, communicate openly, and support continuous problem-solving across the business.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressive operational experience in HVAC services.

  • Three (3) years of experience in a management role with responsibility for the productivity and development of others.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business, or equivalent working experience.

  • Johnson Controls Metasys experience.

  • Eight (8) years of experience in an operational HVAC role with leadership responsibilities.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt.
