PRICING ACTUARY – P&C – BERMUDA – 10% TAX – HR127

About this opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Pricing Actuary to support their specialty insurance team, with a focus on the Casualty underwriting space. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and enhancing pricing and portfolio management tools to drive profitable growth and support informed decision-making.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure underwriters have access to up-to-date technical pricing models and tools, and oversee their delivery, implementation, and ongoing maintenance
  • Develop and apply product pricing methodologies, including algorithms, parameters, impact analysis, and advanced techniques aligned with business strategies
  • Collaborate with the pricing model team to develop, test, and calibrate pricing tools
  • Oversee and maintain the rate monitoring process for portfolios, providing regular reporting on pricing adequacy and rate changes
  • Conduct account-level pricing for bespoke deals where sufficient exposure and claims data exist
  • Design and maintain dashboards and portfolio management tools, enabling underwriters to monitor and optimize portfolio performance
  • Partner with IT to enhance portfolio management capabilities that support profitable underwriting
  • Lead portfolio management activities, including profitability studies and in-depth portfolio reviews
  • Collaborate with underwriting teams to analyze market trends, portfolio shifts, and emerging issues, providing insights and recommendations to enhance profitability
  • Support the annual profit study and planning process, including base loss ratio selection
  • Evaluate and contribute to reinsurance purchasing decisions
  • Provide data and analytics support for the reinsurance placement process

What you’ll need

  • Actuarial designation: Chartered Actuary (FIA), ASA, FSA, or ACAS
  • Approximately 5 years of experience in insurance and reinsurance markets
  • Solid business acumen with the ability to link market trends to financial impact
  • Familiarity with reserving and capital models
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to non-specialist stakeholders
  • Strong mathematical, statistical, and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in actuarial software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities
