Staff Data Engineer
The Staff Data Engineer plays a pivotal role in advancing our products and services by shaping solution design and supporting strategic decision-making. This individual collaborates closely with engineers, clinical experts, payment professionals, and business operations leaders to build and optimize data pipelines and analyze large-scale healthcare claims and clinical datasets. By leveraging scalable data architecture and engineering best practices, the Staff Data Engineer drives innovation and improves outcomes across the organization.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & KEY PERFORMANCE OUTCOMES
Work cross functionally to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.
Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines to support optimization and improvement of product development, sales, marketing techniques and business strategies.
Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
Develop custom data models, pipelines, and architecture to apply to large-scale data sets.
Build scalable, reliable data infrastructure to optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, and other business outcomes.
Coordinate with different functional teams to implement data solutions and monitor pipeline performance.
Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze data pipeline performance, data quality, and data accuracy, including responsible AI practices.
Champion innovation in data engineering practices, evaluating and introducing new tools, architectures, and techniques to keep the organization at the leading edge.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum of five (5) years experience building data pipelines and engineering large-scale data sets
Advanced level SQL coding & query optimization
Experience with healthcare data and standard UB/HCFA claim fields
Experience with data pipelines and architecture in Snowflake on Cloud Platforms (strongly preferred)
Experience using programming languages (Python, SQL, etc.) to build data pipelines and process large data sets.
Experience working with Java, Spark and/or Python
Experience working in Project Management tools (Jira, Confluence)
PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
Drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques, with a passion for driving innovation.
Knowledge of modern data pipeline orchestration and ETL/ELT tools and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
Knowledge of data architecture and modeling concepts (dimensional modeling, data warehousing, distributed systems, etc.) and experience with applications.
Experience in analytic report and dashboard development.
