2026 Data Scientist Internship, Brazil

About the role and team 

Interns at Uber don’t just observe — they build. In this Data Science internship, you will turn complexity into clarity by applying a data-driven approach to some of Uber’s most ambitious and high-stakes challenges, from improving interpersonal safety through telematics to playing an adversarial game against global fraud networks. You will move beyond theory to solve real-world problems that directly impact the safety, reliability, and growth of our platform for millions of riders and earners.

You will be embedded in a high-performing, cross-functional team of engineers, product managers, and fellow scientists who thrive in a fast-paced environment where change is constant. This is a role for a resilient and curious problem-solver who is ready to take ownership of a project from ideation to impact. Whether you are deep-diving into individual cases or building machine learning models to be applied more generally, you will find tremendous purpose in work that moves the real world.

What you’ll do 

• Collaborate with your mentor to define, scope, and prototype data-driven solutions for complex problems in safety, risk, or customer experience.
• Conduct deep data analysis on massive datasets to uncover trends and insights that drive critical business decisions and strategic growth.
• Design and execute experiments, including A/B testing, to measure the real-world impact of product changes and policy optimizations.
• Develop and validate critical data pipelines and monitor product performance through automated dashboards and scientific readouts.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to translate ambiguous business requirements into focused plans of execution and actionable insights.
• Present findings and strategic recommendations to senior management, helping to raise the bar for excellence across Uber’s global operations.

Basic Qualifications 

• Current Bachelor’s or Master’s student pursuing a degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• Expected graduation date of July or December 2027(only) (applications with other graduation dates will not be considered)

• Minimum of 10 months of availability for the internship. *(If you are going to graduate in 2028+, please take this time to prepare yourself better and soon we will open new opportunities again.)

• English proficiency: Able to present ideas in a comprehensive, yet succinct manner. It's required for daily team communications, meetings, and global collaboration.
  Please note: The interview process will be conducted entirely in English.

• Available to start on October, 2026 and work 30 hours a week for at least 10 months - hybrid mode (mandatory to be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday @the office in Sao Paulo city)

Preferred Qualifications 

• Coding proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
• Strong first-principle thinking and a proven record of applying analytical methods to solve real-world problems.
• Ability to clearly articulate technical insights to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with experimental design or A/B testing.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, or open-source libraries.
• A "go-get-it" attitude with the resilience to thrive in an environment of constant change and ambiguity.
