The Content Architect Manager defines how content is structured across Citizens as a system built from reusable, machine-readable entities.
Reporting to the Head of Web Experience within the Digital Content Experience Strategy team, this role sets and evolves the enterprise content model, defining how content entities such as products, rates, disclosures, offers, FAQs, pages, and modules are structured, related, governed, and delivered across web, mobile, authenticated, and AI-driven experiences.
It sits at the intersection of content, product, and technology, translating business needs into scalable models that teams apply consistently across channels and use cases.
What You’ll Do
- Define and evolve the enterprise content model: types, fields, relationships, and metadata
- Structure content around real-world entities (for example, products, rates, disclosures) rather than around any single channel or experience
- Ensure content is independent of presentation and designed for reuse across contexts
- Align content models with system architecture across CMS, API, and engineering teams so content can be created, stored, and delivered consistently
- Define structured data standards, including schema.org and JSON-LD where appropriate, so content is discoverable, retrievable, and reusable by search engines, answer engines, LLMs, and internal systems
- Lead cross-functional decisions on model changes, tradeoffs, and exceptions across Web Strategy, Product, Technology, Risk, and Compliance
- Own the governance process for content model changes, including intake, review, approval, versioning, exception handling, and retirement of outdated structures
- Drive adoption by creating practical guidance that helps teams apply models correctly in real workflows
- Define content structures that can be resolved through stable API contracts and consumed consistently by downstream applications
- Evaluate existing content structures and legacy CMS constraints, identifying where current models should be reused, refactored, or retired
- Partner with design system and engineering teams to align content models with reusable components and front-end rendering patterns
How You Work
- Play a defining role in how content structure decisions are made across the organization
- Lead with an informed point of view and build trust by helping partners make better decisions
- Balance long-term system integrity with near-term business needs
- Hold the line on scalable structures while making pragmatic tradeoffs when business needs require exceptions
What Success Looks Like
- Content is structured once and reused across channels without duplication
- Content model changes are governed and do not depend on one-off project decisions
- Models are applied consistently across teams and business lines
- New content types are introduced without breaking existing structures
- Content is retrievable and usable in AI-driven experiences
- Teams work faster because the structure is clear and predictable
- Teams understand when to reuse existing structures versus request new ones
- Content can be delivered through stable API contracts without channel-specific rework
