Job Profile Summary
The Commercial Business Analyst – Crude Optimization provides analytical insight, commercial decision support, and performance visibility to help optimize ONEOK’s crude oil portfolio, improve asset utilization, and drive enterprise value. This role develops and maintains models, reporting tools, and business intelligence resources that evaluate crude oil movements, system constraints, market dynamics, quality considerations, and financial impacts across the crude value chain.
Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, the analyst identifies opportunities to reduce risk, enhance operational execution, and support strategic commercial decisions. The successful candidate will combine strong analytical capabilities, business acumen, and communication skills to translate complex data into actionable recommendations that improve planning, strengthen commercial execution, and support continuous performance improvement.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Commercial Analysis and System Optimization
Develop and maintain analytical tools and models used to evaluate crude oil movements, inventory positions, quality considerations, pricing dynamics, and operational constraints.
Analyze system performance and identify opportunities to improve asset utilization and commercial value across the crude portfolio.
Perform economic analysis and scenario modeling to quantify risk, opportunities, and financial impacts associated with commercial and operational decisions.
Support optimization initiatives through data-driven recommendations and business insights.
Data Analytics and Business Intelligence
Aggregate, validate, reconcile, and analyze data from multiple commercial and operational systems to support decision making.
Ensure data integrity and maintain accurate, reliable analytical outputs for stakeholders and leadership teams.
Identify opportunities to automate workflows and improve analytical processes through technology and process enhancements.
Commercial and Cross-Functional Support
Provide analytical support to Commercial, Scheduling, Operations, Quality, and other internal stakeholders.
Evaluate commercial opportunities, operational changes, and market trends to support business objectives.
Assess the financial and operational impact of changing market conditions, asset constraints, and system performance drivers.
Collaborate across business functions to ensure recommendations are practical, executable, and aligned with commercial objectives.
Reporting and Decision Support
Prepare recurring analyses, presentations, forecasts, and business performance reporting for stakeholders and leadership teams.
Clearly communicate assumptions, economic impacts, risks, and recommendations to support informed decision making.
Monitor performance trends and proactively communicate emerging risks and opportunities.
Continuous Improvement
Identify and implement improvements to models, workflows, reporting processes, and analytical methodologies.
Document processes, assumptions, and business logic to improve consistency, scalability, and organizational knowledge.
Support a culture of safety, collaboration, accountability, and operational excellence.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in relevant technical or business discipline required.
Work Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in the oil and gas industry preferred.
Experience developing analytical models, reporting solutions, and decision-support tools preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of crude oil markets, logistics, and quality considerations
Strong data analysis and financial modeling skills, including experience with large, complex datasets
Ability to translate analysis into clear recommendations that support commercial decisions
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver accurate results in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication skills, including the ability to present recommendations to leadership
Experience reading, interpreting, and understanding contracts
Strong initiative, organization, and time management skills
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Experience with Power BI, Power Query, SQL, VBA, Python, or other analytical tools preferred

$74,000.00 - $110,000.00
