Role Purpose
We’re looking for an experienced Breast Ultrasound sonographer to join our multidisciplinary team in London and help to take breast ultrasounds as part of a clinical research study.
This is a key role focused on delivering high-quality, independent assessments. You’ll perform and interpret ultrasound scans of adult women who are receiving a breast ultrasound as part of a clinical study. You will work in conjunction with the principal investigator of the study to ensure that assessments and reports are of research-grade quality. This is a fixed term role that lasts for the duration of the study and is based at our clinics in either London Victoria or central Birmingham.
What You’ll Deliver
Perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations in line with clinical guidelines and best practices with focus on breast ultrasound
Pass on the study-specific acquisition and interpretation qualification task before performing study scans, with certificate filed in the investigational site file.
Independently interpret and report ultrasound findings, ensuring timely delivery of results that are uploaded to a standardised electronic case report form.
Collaborate with our multidisciplinary research team to help deliver Neko’s clinical trial focused on better understanding risks of breast cancer.
Adherence to the study acquisition SOP
Equipment QA maintenance logged on-site. Liaise directly with the study PI and research team where needed.
Minimum Requirements
HCPC-registered diagnostic radiographer (or other HCPC-/NMC-registered healthcare professional), holding a CASE-accredited postgraduate qualification in breast ultrasound (PgCert / PgDip / MSc, or a named CASE-accredited breast ultrasound module.
Documented, current breast ultrasound practice, with a minimum of two years’ full-time-equivalent breast scanning.
Advanced radiographic experience of reporting autonomously within the NHS Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) or an equivalent quality-assurance framework.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly to study participants.
Commitment to maintaining high clinical standards and engaging in ongoing professional development.
Preferred
Experience with previous ultrasound scanning as part of clinical trials
Experience with shear-wave elastography acquisition and reporting.
Experience with Philips US machines, and decision support software
Familiarity with data entry as part of clinical research studies.
