Accountabilities:

    The Refueling & Remote Handling Engineer 2 will support the design, development, and implementation of reactor servicing tools, remote handling systems, and engineering processes that enable safe and effective reactor operations.

    • Develop engineering solutions for complex technical challenges involving reactor servicing tools, inspection equipment, and remote handling systems.
    • Provide systems engineering support throughout the design and development of mechanical equipment and control systems.
    • Prepare, review, and update engineering documentation, including reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, and design packages.
    • Collaborate with component design teams to ensure equipment interfaces meet functional and performance requirements.
    • Work with systems engineering and operations teams to develop handling plans, work sequences, and integrated tooling approaches.
    • Develop and maintain engineering standards, design criteria, and technical guidelines.
    • Support planning, organization, and execution of complex engineering projects.
    • Evaluate alternative technical approaches to achieve project objectives and improve product performance.
    • Support procurement activities related to equipment design, fabrication, testing, and implementation.
    • Provide technical expertise and engineering recommendations to cross-functional teams.
    • Apply quality assurance standards and safety practices throughout engineering activities.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within engineering processes and project execution.
    • Requirements:

      The ideal candidate has experience in mechanical engineering design, equipment development, and technical problem-solving within complex engineering environments, with a strong interest in nuclear technology and advanced energy systems.

      • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Nuclear Engineering from an accredited four-year institution required.
      • ABET-accredited engineering program preferred.
      • Professional Engineering (PE) license in Mechanical, Electrical, or Nuclear Engineering preferred.
      • Minimum of 2 years of relevant full-time engineering experience; advanced degrees may be considered in place of professional experience.
      • Demonstrated experience preparing, reviewing, and checking mechanical design documents for equipment and systems.
      • Experience applying engineering design processes to develop mechanical handling equipment and systems.
      • Prior experience working in a nuclear operating environment preferred.
      • Ability to develop creative solutions to complex engineering problems.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
      • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities, deadlines, and multiple projects.
      • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and build effective professional relationships.
      • Commitment to safety culture, quality assurance practices, and engineering standards.
      • Eligibility to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810 requirements.
      • Benefits:

        • Competitive annual compensation with a target pay range of $87,107 to $105,129 and a full range of $78,096 to $122,149.
