We deliver the half of the rocket that stays on the ground. As Senior Specialist, you will be responsible for end-to-end safety & compliance of the company’s ground infrastructure systems according to location and system specific standards. This includes direct and indirect technical involvement in safety & risk assessment processes, as well as component selection and safety system implementations. You are acting as technical lead, also serving in an interfacing function between the different ground system disciplines i.e. fluid, control and mechanical systems.
Your Role in Our Space Mission:
Own and drive safety and compliance activities for all ground infrastructure systems, ensuring adherence to site‑specific, national, and international standards
Drive HAZOPs, risk assessments, and safety reviews across multiple projects, ensuring risks are identified, documented, and mitigated effectively
Guide the design, selection, and validation of safety‑critical components, including safety valves, instrumentation, and protective systems and safety PLC-based architectures
Define safety processes, documentation standards, and best practices, ensuring consistent application across all ground systems projects
Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and project teams to ensure safety considerations are integrated early and consistently throughout the project lifecycle
Set clear priorities, technical goals, and expectations aligned with product and business needs
Ensure safety deliverables are planned, tracked, and delivered across project phases
Qualification Checklist
A degree in mechanical, industrial, chemical, aerospace engineering or similar
More than 8 years of extensive experience in the areas of process safety, plant & environmental safety and ideally knowledge in explosion protection as well as fire & gas protection
Clear track-record of decision-making experience and managing interfaces with external suppliers, certification bodies and authorities
Deep understanding of safety engineering principles, including HAZOP, FMEA, and risk assessment methodologies in highly regulated industries (aerospace, energy, chemical, oil & gas)
Deep experience with safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508/61511, ISO 13849, SIL/PL classifications)
Deep understanding of safety‑critical components (valves, sensors, interlocks, pressure systems, etc.)
High level of ownership and accountability as well as outstanding communication skills
Fluent in English
Bonus Skills
Experience with CE marking, ATEX, UL, or comparable certification frameworks
Knowledge of cryogenic systems, high-pressure systems, or hazardous fluid handling
