Deputy Administrator for Enforcement

This position is located in the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Mine and Safety Health Administration. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply. Participates and collaborates in the planning and coordination of long-range programs with other key MSHA officials and the Associate Solicitor for Mine Safety and Health, and when necessary, key officials in DOL, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, and the Departments of Energy and Interior. Provides programming input and advice in terms of mining expertise, interprets implications of inspection findings and enforcement actions, and makes recommendations as appropriate. Conducts conferences and meetings with Headquarters and field offices and staff with expertise in specific subject matter areas or on other related matters for the exchange of information, ideas, and recommendations regarding mine performance evaluations and overall evaluation of the effectiveness of MSHA's mine safety and health program. Approves, disapproves, or considers recommendations and, as appropriate, uses staff input in higher level program and policy planning meetings. Collaborates with key officials in DOL, State and local governments, the mining industry, labor organizations, professional associations, and national and international safety and health organizations.
