Job Description:

Department Overview

The MMA team is responsible for the design, deployment, and support of mainframe automation and messaging functions, including:

  • Infrastructure automation and monitoring
  • Message and system alerting
  • Operational automation
  • GDPS disaster recovery scripting and support
  • Support of critical mainframe infrastructure services

Key Accountabilities

The successful candidate is expected to:

  • Develop and maintain mainframe automation solutions
  • Work within established automation coding standards and best practices
  • Design and enhance new automation capabilities
  • Support and participate in disaster recovery testing and validation exercises
  • Collaborate with operations and infrastructure teams
  • Help improve monitoring, alerting, and automation effectiveness across the platform

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Motivated self-starter with strong learning agility
  • Background in automation coding (mainframe automation experience preferred)
  • Operations experience is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of IBM zSeries / z/OS environments
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of security concepts and practices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to contribute in a collaborative team environment

Technical Qualifications & Education

  • Knowledge of computing and performance management concepts
  • Programming/scripting fundamentals
  • Experience with tools such as:
    • Excel
    • FTP
    • Visio
    • Word
  • Ability to learn and apply automation technologies within the mainframe ecosystem
  • College or University degree in IT-related disciplines (Programming, Networking, Infrastructure, Storage) or equivalent experience
