Project Title

SMT Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) Process Optimization and Data Analytics

Project Description

This internship project focuses on improving the performance of the SMT Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) process within a semiconductor manufacturing environment. The project emphasizes structured learning through data analysis, engineering evaluation, and development of improvement solutions.
 

The intern will work with AOI inspection datasets to identify patterns related to false triggers and false rejects and assess opportunities for process optimization. The intern will also have opportunities to leverage AI and data analytics tools to support data interpretation, pattern recognition, and engineering decision-making. These may include the use of AI-enabled tools to explore data trends, improve insight generation, and enhance evaluation of potential process improvements.

Objective of the Project

  • Analyze AOI data to identify key factors affecting inspection accuracy
  • Evaluate opportunities to reduce false triggers and false rejects
  • Develop data-driven improvement concepts

Project Scope

  • Perform data analysis to identify trends and anomalies
  • Conduct structured root cause investigation on key defect classifications
  • Evaluate process behavior through engineering methods
  • Propose improvement concepts and monitoring approaches

Course of Interest

The ideal candidate should be pursuing a certification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field on a full-time basis.
