Sr Crystal Growth Technician

Primary Responsibilities

Prepare, verify, and document raw materials, dopants, seeds, and charge calculations per controlled proceduresAssemble and inspect hot zones to ensure mechanical integrity and thermal symmetrySet up, operate, and monitor CZ growth systems for SGGG production; support additional oxide systems as neededMaintain operational control of key growth parameters to ensure repeatable execution within defined process windowsIdentify and respond to process drift, equipment instability, or infrastructure-related interruptionsExecute controlled heat-up, growth, and cooldown sequences to minimize thermal stress and yield lossPerform in-process and post-growth evaluations in compliance with traceability and quality requirementsAccurately record process data, deviations, and observations in controlled documentation systemsParticipate in root-cause investigations related to yield loss and equipment stabilityTrain and mentor junior technicians; review setups for procedural complianceMaintain strict adherence to safety and high-temperature operating standards 

Required Experience and Skills

Minimum eight (5) years of experience in CZ crystal growth or high-temperature oxide manufacturingProven ability to independently operate complex crystal growth systems in a production environmentStrong knowledge of thermal management, melt behavior, and process repeatabilityExperience with controlled documentation, deviation management, and manufacturing disciplineDemonstrated troubleshooting capability for crystal growth systems and infrastructure-related disruptionsMechanical aptitude for hot zone assembly and equipment upkeepProficiency in data entry systems and Microsoft Office toolsStrong attention to detail, safety awareness, and process ownership mindset

 

Desired Qualifications

Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Materials Science, or related technical disciplineExperience with SGGG and/or similar high-temperature oxide materialsExperience supporting transition from development to standardized productionExperience mentoring less-experienced technicians
