Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Planning, Program Analysis & Evaluation, located in Washington, DC. Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above. This announcement has been amended on 6/24/2026 to extend the closing date to 07/02/2026. The incumbent serves as a first line supervisor, planning, directing, coordinating, assigning, organizing and evaluating the activities of the division. This position starts at a salary of $143,913.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $187,093.00 (GS-14, Step 10). Typical duties include: Serving as an expert analyst and/or advisor to senior management. Preparing and presenting technical briefings, white papers, executive summaries, and other communications vehicles necessary to achieve OFO goals and objectives. Examining and developing solutions for OFO senior leadership. Applying advanced concepts of operations research, statistics, modeling and simulation and scientific methods and techniques in identifying and solving a variety of complex challenges germane to OFO's solution support. Conducting liaison with other government agencies, state and local for purposes of exchanging information and gaining their participation in support in operations research efforts. Serving as OFO's primary representative on operations research matters in contacts with such agencies. Serving as a Supervisory Operations and Research Analyst reporting to the Director. Establishing work schedules, providing development and training for employees, setting long term goals, evaluating performance, and approving and disapproving leave.
