Safety-critical industries are under mounting pressure. The work that keeps buildings, workplaces, infrastructure, and the public safe relies on paperwork, fragmented systems, and manual reporting. The result is a growing backlog of inspections and certifications, and in this industry, delay has real human consequences.
Venmark is clearing that backlog. We are building an AI-native testing, inspection, certification, and compliance (TICC) platform, grown by acquiring high-growth industry champions. We embed directly within their teams, building automation and AI into frontline workflows to deliver efficiency gains in real-time. Real users and real problems from day one. When you ship something here, it lands in a live operation.
You would be technical hire #2, working directly with the CTO. Founding equity and AI uplift bonuses tied to platform growth.
About the role
This is both a forward-deployed and deeply technical role. You embed with acquired businesses to understand their operations, and you build the core AI platform that transforms them. The field work feeds the platform, the platform scales what you learn.
On the ground: 2–3 days a week on-site with acquired companies during transformation phases. You are their technical partner, finding the tedious, broken, or manual processes and fixing them. The range of problems is wide and the tech varies accordingly. Everything you build directly increases efficiency and revenue.
Problem to production: You identify the highest-leverage opportunities, scope them, and ship working software within weeks, not quarters. Every improvement has a direct line to margin and growth.
AI-powered automation: You will work across the full spectrum of applied AI: from document generation, scheduling, customer communications, and automating legacy software workflows, through to computer vision, sensor and lab hardware integrations, and agents that reason across messy operational data.
Leadership: As Venmark scales, so does this role. You will shape the platform architecture and build the engineering team. The long-term goal is a world-class AI tech platform and the team to match.
About you

Strong engineer, comfortable across any tech stack, does not need hand-holding to ship
Has shipped real systems and wants to do it again in a place where it counts
Comfortable travelling 2–3 days a week to work directly with businesses across the UK
Clear communicator with a product mindset, pragmatic about trade-offs
Startup mindset: comfortable with ambiguity, moves fast, ships before things are perfect, takes ownership of problems end-to-end
Nice to have
Experience with AI/ML in production (LLMs, computer vision, agents, data science)
GCP or cloud infrastructure experience
Forward-deployed or consulting-style engineering background
Experience in related industries (compliance, inspection, facilities, logistics, field services)
Has worked at a top tech company and wants more ownership and a smaller team
Previous startup experience
Experience migrating legacy systems
Experience working with non-technical stakeholders or SMEs
Location & Logistics

Compensation
Founding equity as technical hire #2. Competitive base salary with AI uplift bonuses tied to platform growth, with room to grow as the company raises further funding.
