Job Summary
The Power System Architect is responsible for defining and driving the long-term technology roadmap and system architecture for 800V DC power system. This role provides architectural leadership across multiple product lines, guides engineering teams on critical technical decisions, and ensures the company’s products maintain technology leadership in the rapidly evolving power infrastructure industry. The power system architect collaborates closely with product offering management, regional engineering, and strategic customers to translate emerging industry trends into scalable system architecture and platform technologies. The related product ranges from white space to grey space and black space, which includes power distribution, UPS, DC power, power shelf, as well as MV/LV generator, BESS and green energy solution.
Responsibilities:
- Define architecture for 800V DC platforms covering power distribution, protection, power conversion, monitoring, and system integration.
- Develop scalable, modular, and future-proof system architectures across multiple products.
- Provide architectural guidance and technical direction to product development teams.
- Define key technical specifications, system requirements, and design verification strategies.
- Evaluate complex engineering challenges and drive technical review balancing performance, redundancy, scalability, reliability, cost, safety, and fault operation.
- Coordinate cross-functional technical discussions among hardware, software, firmware, mechanical, thermal, and system engineering teams.
- Mentor electrical engineers in architecture thinking and engineering excellence.
- Lead technical feasibility studies and architecture trade-off analyses for emerging technologies.
- Support development teams in resolving complex system-level technical issues.
- Gather, analyze, and document customer requirements, translating them into clear system and product specifications, support technical discussions, workshops, and customer design reviews.
- Collaborate with Vertiv sale, business development, product management, product engineering team.
- Produce and maintain architecture documents, system specifications, and design rationale.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering, power electronics or related discipline, Ph.D.’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in leading architecture development for complex power system products in any of the following areas is desirable:
- Data center power solution architect
- Data center power product development
- 800V DC power system development
- Demonstrated success in driving technology strategy across multiple product generations.
- Strong knowledge of electrical system architecture, including 800V DC power distribution, power electronics, BESS, control systems, protection, and fault management.
- Stronge knowledge of the power system key challenge (e.g., LVRT, Arc Flash, Grounding etc.).
- Stronge knowledge of the IEC, UL, NEC, NFPA related standard.
- Clear understating of diverse power and thermal data center infrastructure systems.
- Experience with system-level design and requirement decomposition.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to engineering teams, leadership team, and customers.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical discussions involving multiple product lines and engineering disciplines.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficient in using AutoCAD software.
- Must be team-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced work environment.
