Clean Harbors in Breslau, Ontario is looking to hire a Refinery Operations manager to join their team in Breslau, Ontario.  The Refinery Operations manager is responsible for   overseeing the operations of used oil re-refining processes including associated tank farms and utilities functions.  The Refinery Operations manager is the main point of contact between shipping/receiving, maintenance and laboratory groups and ensures health and safety, quality and environment and production goals are meet. The manager will also manage operating expenditure (i.e., catalyst, chemicals).

  • Monitors, manages and reports overall production of refinery vs. plan 
  • Budget cost for re-refinery process chemicals, catalyst, supplies, utilities 
  • Manages the selection of hydro treating catalysts 
  • Participates in shutdown planning activities, process troubleshooting, monitoring and analysis of process data 
  • Key player in lines of communication between management and the operations group staff 
  • Responsible for hiring, training, coaching, evaluation and discipline of staff 
  • Ensures process operation within safe operating limits, compliance with all regulatory, permit and corporate EH&S requirements and ISO quality standards 
  • Oversee and participate in ongoing preparation, revision and approval of SOP's for refinery
  • May be assigned additional duties not listed above based on business needs.
  • Required:  Bachelor's Degree Chemical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Related
  • Experience:  5 to 7 years -  in the petroleum or chemical processing industry 
  • Alternative: Alternative combinations of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree. 
  • Leadership skills:  Ability to motivate and lead 21 operations group members 
  • Strong technical aptitude with respect to refining operations 
  • Ability to plan, organize, make decisions and handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision
