Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced AWS Data Migration Engineer to lead and support the migration of data from legacy healthcare systems to AWS-based platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in healthcare data migration, AWS data services, ETL/ELT processes, and healthcare interoperability standards. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure secure, accurate, and scalable data migration solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with clients to gather, analyze, and define business and technical requirements.
- Work closely with Solution Architects, Business Analysts, Clinical SMEs, and Development teams to define and execute data migration strategies.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data migration pipelines for migrating data from legacy healthcare applications to AWS.
- Perform data extraction, transformation, cleansing, validation, and loading (ETL/ELT) activities.
- Ensure migrated data complies with healthcare interoperability standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations.
- Conduct data quality assessments, reconciliation, validation, and integrity checks throughout the migration lifecycle.
- Develop and optimize data processing workflows using AWS services.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including migration specifications, data mapping documents, and implementation guides.
- Troubleshoot migration issues and optimize data migration performance.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver successful migration projects.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years' experience required in migrating data from legacy healthcare systems to cloud platforms.
- Strong experience with AWS data services, including:
- AWS Glue
- AWS Lambda
- AWS Step Functions
- Amazon S3
- Strong understanding of data engineering concepts, including:
- Data partitioning
- Data lakes
- File formats such as Parquet and Apache Iceberg
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT processes and data transformation pipelines.
- Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards and healthcare data models.
- Experience performing data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional, team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in healthcare or life sciences organizations.
- Knowledge of modern cloud data architectures and AWS best practices.
- AWS certifications are a plus.
- Experience with Agile delivery methodologies is preferred.
