As an Operations Associate, you will utilize your healthcare revenue cycle and billing expertise, along with your experience navigating multiple Patient Accounting systems, to deliver high-quality support and service to R1’s clients. This role is responsible for performing a variety of administrative and operational tasks that contribute to efficient workflow management and client success.

Key responsibilities include reviewing and processing billing documentation, maintaining and updating records, managing fax and document workflows, handling inbound and outbound phone communications, and working extensively within Excel to analyze, track, and report data. The Operations Associate ensures accuracy, timeliness, and compliance while supporting daily client operations and contributing to overall team performance.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Examine patient billing records, claims, remittance advice, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with client and payer requirements.
  • Navigate multiple Patient Accounting and revenue cycle systems to research accounts, update information, document account activity, and support billing and collections processes.
  • Send, receive, track, and organize healthcare and billing-related documents via fax while ensuring timely processing and proper record retention.
  • Handle inbound and outbound phone communications with patients, insurance representatives, healthcare providers, and internal stakeholders to resolve account inquiries and obtain necessary information.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel to enter, review, track, and reconcile account data, generate reports, and identify discrepancies requiring follow-up.
  • Safeguard Protected Health Information (PHI) by adhering to HIPAA regulations, organizational policies, and security protocols when handling patient records, communications, and billing information.
  • Complete clerical and administrative tasks including document management, correspondence, account research, data entry, and other activities that support efficient client operations and service delivery.




REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare, revenue cycle, medical billing, or patient accounting environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data entry, sorting, filtering, and basic reporting functions.
  • Experience sending, receiving, and managing documents via fax in a professional healthcare or business setting.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations and demonstrated ability to handle Protected Health Information (PHI) in a confidential and compliant manner.
  • Experience reviewing and processing billing-related documentation with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively by phone with patients, insurance representatives, providers, and internal stakeholders.
For this US-based position, the base pay range is $16.79 - $20.98 per hour . Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
