How you create impact
The Customs Specialist provides operational support for customs processing activities, ensuring accurate and timely execution of transactions in compliance with internal procedures, regulatory requirements, and service level agreements (SLAs). The role involves reviewing customs documentation, validating shipment data, supporting import/export filings through systems such as CargoWise, and coordinating with internal teams and global branches to maintain compliance and operational efficiency. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to structured processes, and the ability to manage high transaction volumes while meeting productivity and quality KPIs. Experience in freight forwarding, customs brokerage, or logistics operations is an advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process customs transactions according to SOPs, work instructions, and regulatory requirements.
- Review and validate customs documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and airway bills.
- Enter and maintain accurate shipment data in operational systems to support customs entry, export, and transit processes.
- Prepare and support customs filings while ensuring compliance with company procedures and applicable regulations.
- Maintain accurate operational records and documentation.
- Meet productivity, quality, and cost-efficiency targets while minimizing errors, penalties, and service disruptions.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and global branches to ensure smooth customs operations.
- Identify operational risks, escalate issues promptly, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in training, process migrations, stabilization activities, and operational readiness for new customers or services.
- Contribute to operational excellence, automation projects, and service quality enhancements.
- Safeguard the confidentiality of customer information, operational data, and regulatory requirements.
What we would like you to bring
- High school diploma.
- Intermediate to advance English.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge or experience of international trade, Customs entry processing or declaration filing, logistics shared services or global services centers, customs brokerage operations, freight forwarding operations or import or export documentation.
- Experience with operational or logistics platforms is an advantage.
- Ability to review and validate shipping or customs documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and transport documents.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
- Proactive mindset with the ability to identify potential issues and propose improvements.
- Effective communication skills in a multicultural and global operational environment.
- Team-oriented attitude with the ability to collaborate across departments and regions.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to manage operational challenges in a structured manner.
Work schedule: We offer day, mixed, and night shifts. Employees working day shifts under a hybrid work model, mixed or night shifts enjoy a 100% Work-From-Home (WFH)
This position is subject to a rotating schedule and shift, which may vary between day, night, or mixed shifts. Your days off will also be assigned by the company, and both your schedule and days off may be modified with a minimum notice of five (5) business days.
