We partner deeply across Microsoft Security, commerce, and cost management teams to deliver one consistent story across every experience.As a Software Engineer II on the Security FinOps team, you will design, build, and operate the platform services and customer-facing experiences that meter usage, aggregate cost, and give customers transparent, actionable billing and cost visibility across the Microsoft Security portfolio. You will grow your engineering craft while shipping production software that thousands of customers depend on to understand what they spend on security.ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, test, and operate features for the billing, cost management, and FinOps platform and experiences, with guidance from senior engineers.Build reliable, scalable APIs, services, and experiences that meter usage, aggregate cost, and present cost and usage insights.Write high-quality, well-tested code and participate in code reviews to uphold engineering standards.Diagnose and resolve issues in production services, participating in an on-call rotation and contributing to live-site health.Collaborate with product managers, designers, and partner teams to translate requirements into working software.Continuously learn the domain of commerce, metering, and cost management, and apply it to improve the product.Leverage AI-powered development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to accelerate coding, testing, and end-to-end (E2E) development, applying AI responsibly to improve engineering productivity and quality.QualificationsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python, OR equivalent experience.Other Qualifications:Experience building and shipping production software or services.Working knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software design fundamentals.Experience with cloud services, distributed systems, web experiences, or large-scale data processing.Exposure to commerce, billing, metering, usage, or cost/usage reporting and analytics.Familiarity with Azure, REST/API design, or telemetry and monitoring. Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
