You’ll help us source the highest quality parts and services from around the globe while ensuring optimal cost and on-time delivery. You’ll also contribute to establishing a robust supply chain so that we can continually produce the vehicles our customers want.

Ford Motor Company is looking for a Senior Strategic Buyer to lead sourcing strategy for Low Voltage Batteries and Battery Management Systems (BMS) — two of the most critical components in modern vehicle electrification. In this role, you won't just process purchase orders; you'll shape the technology roadmap, cost competitiveness, and supply resilience of components that directly affect how Ford vehicles perform, last, and compete in the market. You'll work at the intersection of engineering innovation and commercial strategy, partnering with cross-functional teams to bring the best suppliers, technology, and value to Ford's global vehicle lineup. What you'll do...

  • Own and evolve the global sourcing strategy for Low Voltage Batteries and Battery Management Systems, including long-term technology roadmaps and supplier industrialization plans. 

  • Lead end-to-end sourcing initiatives — from supplier selection through contract award — to meet program timing and cost targets. 

  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms with suppliers, using market intelligence and cost analysis to secure best-in-class value. 

  • Build and maintain detailed cost models and competitive benchmarks to inform sourcing and negotiation decisions. 

  • Manage strategic supplier relationships to drive performance, innovation, and continuity of supply, proactively resolving risks or disruptions. 

  • Present sourcing strategies and cost/performance updates to senior leadership, and collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Finance, Legal, and Supplier Quality to resolve issues quickly.

You'll have... 

Education: Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.

Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in purchasing, sourcing, or procurement, with meaningful exposure to negotiation, contract management, or project leadership. Battery and Power Electronics group, driving end-to-end commercial accountability for these critical commodities.

Skills & Tools:

  • Proficiency with enterprise resource planning (ERP) and procure-to-pay software (e.g., SAP, Ariba, or similar industry-standard platforms).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting to senior leadership.

  • Strong track record leading or contributing to cross-functional teams with measurable results.

  • Highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

 

Preferred (Nice to Have):

  • Master's degree or MBA.

  • Experience in the automotive industry or a strong interest in electric vehicle technology.

  • Advanced negotiation and strategic sourcing experience.

  • Familiarity with legal contract negotiation and governance processes.

  • A self-starter mindset with a strong sense of ownership and adaptability.
