INVESTMENT ACCOUNTANT – RE/INSURANCE – BERMUDA – 10% TAX – HR303

About this opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the Investment Accountant will work closely with the investment and broader finance teams to oversee accounting contributions to the operational, financial, and regulatory reporting requirements of the investment portfolios. The role involves investment accounting, analytics, performance measurement, and reporting, with a proactive approach to developing and enhancing portfolio analytics tools that drive informed decision-making.

Key responsibilities:

Analytics & performance measurement:

• Ensuring ongoing accuracy of internal and system-calculated risk analytics and data inputs into portfolio management dashboards
• Managing performance measurement, attribution, and reporting procedures
• Building and maintaining private asset class accounting and performance measurement processes, including assessment of private asset models and pricing assumptions, and set-up of reporting systems

Investment operations & compliance:

• Partnering with the company’s Manager of Investment Administration on operational, compliance, and regulatory requests related to accounting, analytics and performance of the investment portfolio
• Reviewing investment-related service provider and investment manager SOC1 reports
• Collaborating with the broader Finance team to provide periodic investment accounting inputs for general ledger and financial statement preparation
• Collaborating with the CIO, investment team, and service providers on periodic and ad hoc reporting for senior management and investment company Boards

Reporting & continuous improvement:

• Collaborating with the CIO, investment team, and service providers on periodic and ad hoc reporting for senior management and investment company Boards
• Identifying process improvement opportunities and participating in the implementation of process upgrades

What you’ll need

• An internationally recognized professional accounting qualification (e.g. US CPA or equivalent) with a minimum of five years' post-qualification experience, preferably focused on investments and investment accounting in the reinsurance or insurance industry
• Essential to have a working knowledge of fixed income securities, mortgage loans, public equity, and private asset classes including alternative vehicles and related US GAAP accounting requirements
• High proficiency in MS suite of applications, including Excel and PowerPoint
• Prior experience working with various investment accounting service providers and custodian platforms is preferable
• Proficiency in AI and productivity tools is preferable
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness and ability to work overtime to meet deadlines and ability to travel for work commitments as required
