The Respiratory Care Assistant maintains the integrity and replenishment of the crash carts, respiratory supply carts, and supply/equipment storage areas. In addition, the position develops standards and processes to improve cost savings while ordering and maintaining supplies and equipment throughout the facility.What you will doDocuments all inspections, safety checks, repairs, and calibration issues in the appropriate logs and spreadsheets. Ensures all malfunctioning equipment is inspected or repaired by the designated vendor and there is a record of the malfunction. Cleans and sets up equipment in accordance with manufacturer and regulatory guidelines. Ensures equipment needing high level disinfection or sterilization are delivered to Sterile Processing according to organizational policies. Ensures oxygen cylinders are replenished on Respiratory equipment during assembly to meet regulatory guidelines. Ensures all equipment is inspected, safety checked, calibrated and operational according to policy and manufacturer’s guidelines. Ensures troubleshooting of all failed equipment, reports on-going trends, and places repair tickets, as applicable. Ensures the integrity of the crash cart exchange for all patient care areas, except the Emergency Department. Ensures the crash carts are retrieved with proper seal and back-board. The crash carts will be cleaned, replenished, and stored in the crash cart closet in an efficient and safe manner. Orders supplies and equipment to maintain respiratory supply levels. Orders rental equipment as applicable. Completes oxygen rounds for all inpatient care areas each day. Documents in the patient’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR) with accuracy and appropriate detail in a timely manner without supervision. Notifies Respiratory Therapist and/or Charge Nurse if vitals are not within normal limits.
