Skip to main contentSign InDigital Content Producer page is loadedDigital Content ProducerApplylocationsOR, Portlandtime typeFull timeposted onPosted 30+ Days Agojob requisition idREQ-41742KOIN 6 TV/Portland’s CW, a Nexstar Group Inc. owned CBS and CW duopoly in Portland, Oregon is seeking a Digital Content Producer who will assist with the Assignment Desk.ROLE: This role is responsible for updating the local website, discovering and curating high-performing content, crafting homepage layouts driven by data, and helping to report news.Principal Duties & Responsibilities:Curate and aggregate a steady stream of interesting content that is packaged and promoted in a way that generates engagement and repeat site visitationMonitor all forms of media (print, TV, digital, blogs and social) and be the quick to report breaking news stories and always on the hunt for exclusive and or trending content that will grow engagement and drive loyal, local trafficExcellent at writing headlines that grow audience and engagementPrioritize packaging content that grows page views per visitor and time on site, using headline testing, metric tools and observed patterns to guide decision makingUnderstand different ways to tell a story, particularly producing short videos and choosing great photosEvaluate website traffic trends to make decisions on both daily content needs and longer-term content curation that will grow local audienceBuild positive working relationships with newsroom staff and management, work collaboratively on enterprise content, and creating opportunities to market web content on broadcastPromote and distribute news content on social media platforms and through other audience engagement toolsMonitor scanners, wires, news releases, emails, and social media for story leadsPlan and produce live or recorded digital-exclusive content (e.g., interviews, explainers, behind-the-scenes)Assist with development, planning, and follow-up of news stories for all platformsKeep the newsroom informed of breaking news and developing stories throughout the dayAnswer phones, vet story tips, and maintain daily news logsFlexibility to perform duties and other tasks as assignedSpecialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:2 years of experience in digital content and journalismClever headline writer that gets readers to clickStrong multi-tasking abilitiesOrganized, technical problem solver and quick decision makerCapable of researching, interviewing and writing original news articlesKnowledge of SEO best practices and AP StyleEnjoys working in teams and has excellent interpersonal skillsEase with/ability to learn new technology independently and quicklyRegularly meets measurements of successStrong understanding of Google Analytics; Chartbeat experience a plusProficiency in MS Office; HTML, CSS and Photoshop experience a plusStrong editorial judgment and ability to identify compelling, audience-focused storiesExcellent organizational and multitasking skillsAbility to make quick decisions and remain calm under pressureMust be comfortable taking a leadership role while collaborating across teamsStrong communicator; outstanding verbal and written communication skillsMust be flexible and able to adapt to a fast-paced, evolving news environmentMust be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and overnights as neededEducation/Experience:Bachelor’s Degree in Communication/Journalism or equivalent experience may substitute) + 2 (two) years’ experience in television broadcast/production and/or producing content for digital sitesFamiliarity with the Portland region is a plusUnderstanding of multi-platform news strategies, audience engagement trendsTRAINING/EQUIPMENT: Utilize state-of-the-art television technology; MS Outlook, E-mail, TEAMS.Work Environment/Physical Requirements: High stress environment with deadline pressures and the demands of breaking news, which can happen at any time.
