Overview

Oversight of Hospice Clinical Education Specialists. Facilitates successful on boarding of Hospice new hires across all branches. provide coordination and connection between the Clinical preceptors, new hires, and branch leadership. Development of global new hire education in collaboration with subject matter experts. ensuring proper training of preceptors. Oversight of, on-line, virtual, and in-person classroom education. Promote clinical retention through oversight of initial and ongoing staff development. Monitor integrity of and compliance with standardized orientation program requirements. Subject matter expert in EMR/HER application. Oversight of training and education of clinical staff. 

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements standardized orientation and ongoing staff development new hires as well as existing staff with Hospice Clinical Education Specialists and subject matter experts
  • Ensures Clinical Ladder and Graduate Nurse programs are executed in each branch
  • Evaluates efficacy of the formal classes and simulation classes to ensure it is meeting results/goals
  • Determines additional training opportunities in collaboration with Hospice Clinical Education Specialist, preceptors, Hospice Clinical and branch leadership based on identified trends in survey, audit, outcomes, etc
  • Collaborates with branch leadership in assessing, implementing, and evaluating new hire and preceptor progress toward goals
  • Collaborates with Branch operations and clinical leadership in providing coaching and career guidance for staff and monitoring career ladder participation
  • Facilitates quarterly preceptor forums for continued preceptor feedback, to provide mentoring and preceptor education
  • Facilitates regular new hire evaluations to monitor progress of and feedback from new hire class
  • Collaborates with Directors of Clinical Practice and Hospice Clinical Education Specialists to identify concerns with preceptors or new hires and communicates these to branch leadership
  • Ensures that the number of preceptors needed by branch is based on new hire demand and works with branch leadership to ensure they meet the requirements of the preceptor
  • Assists with appropriate compliance with regulatory agency requirements, both state and federal
  • Participates in clinical process improvement teams and benchmarking activities as assigned
  • Participates in the development of program changes, including recommendations for obtaining more efficient outcomes
  • Participates in data collection as requested to track and trend program success
  • Intervenes to affect a change in program content/delivery, where indicated based on trends
  • Responsible for selection and hiring of Hospice Clinical Education Specialists, ensuring an effective on-boarding and providing comprehensive training and regular feedback
  • Collaborates with Director Clinical Practice and branch leadership to achieve organizational performance and retention goals

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in field of practice, Bachelors preferred
  • Five years of work-related experience in Hospice or similar setting, at least 2 in a manager-level position
  • Valid clinical license from the state(s) of practice
  • Current CPR certification
  • Possess excellent analytical and organizational, oral and written communication, and teaching skills and familiar with principles of adult learning
  • Detail orientated, ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Willing to travel when required
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of clinical protocol, procedures, and standardsKnowledge and ability and the necessary skill and judgement to perform all procedures as outlined
  • Ability to provide operational guidance and leadership to technical staff in area of specialty
  • Knowledge of related regulatory, accreditation and certification requirements.
  • Ability to assess educational needs and design and develop responsible curricula
  • Working knowledge of the use of established clinical and preceptorship models in the development of clinical education programs
  • Advanced clinical skills
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care programs
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups
  • Ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Solid ability to learn new technologies and possess the technical aptitude required to understand flow of data through systems as well as system interaction
