As a senior technical contributor, you will help shape foundational technologies that support modern data center and cloud networking solutions.

Accountabilities:

    The PCIe Senior/Lead Software Engineer will design, develop, optimize, and maintain low-level software solutions that enable high-speed communication between hardware components. Key responsibilities include:

    • Develop and enhance PCIe software components supporting advanced networking hardware platforms.
    • Bring up PCIe links on new hardware designs and validate functionality across different system configurations.
    • Tune PCIe parameters across root ports, bridges, and endpoints to optimize performance and reliability.
    • Modify and improve Linux PCI drivers and virtual memory allocation mechanisms.
    • Implement error detection and recovery improvements using technologies such as Advanced Error Reporting (AER) and Downstream Port Containment (DPC).
    • Develop user-space software components that interface between networking ASICs, FPGAs, and PCIe bridges.
    • Measure, analyze, and optimize hardware read/write performance.
    • Create automated validation and testing solutions using C, C++, and Python.
    • Collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, diagnostics, and software teams to troubleshoot complex system issues.
    • Diagnose, debug, and resolve low-level firmware and software defects.
    • Contribute technical leadership, engineering best practices, and innovative solutions to improve system performance and reliability.
    • Requirements:

      The successful candidate will have extensive experience in low-level software engineering, strong computer science fundamentals, and deep knowledge of PCIe-based systems. Required qualifications include:

      • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong proficiency in C or C++.
      • Strong understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, and software engineering fundamentals.
      • Hands-on experience developing and debugging low-level firmware or system software.
      • Solid understanding of PCIe hardware architecture, software drivers, and communication protocols.
      • Experience with PCIe switches, root ports, bridges, endpoints, and related technologies.
      • Knowledge of PCIe concepts including state machines, LTSSM, TLP, and credit flow control is highly desirable.
      • Experience diagnosing complex hardware/software integration issues and resolving performance or reliability problems.
      • Experience with Linux-based development environments and system-level programming.
      • Python experience for automation, testing, or development is considered an asset.
      • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve complex technical challenges.
      • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.
