Meet the Team:
Join the Sensors Team, where we deliver multiple modalities of sensors that are rigorously tested and validated for Torc's autonomous driving trucks. Your role will have a significant impact on the future of trucking and autonomous technology as we look to Drive the Future of Freight. We are currently seeking a Hardware Engineer I who is enthusiastic about thriving in a hands-on environment and ready to grow with the team. In this role, you will analyze and understand hardware requirements, interface with automotive suppliers and stakeholders, develop and oversee implementation of test plans and procedures, and ensure overall alignment between the hardware components and the system goals.
What you'll do:
The Hardware Engineer I on the Sensors Team will be responsible for working with the team to develop and execute test plans to validate across sensing modalities.
- Ensure the quality of hardware deliveries by designing, establishing, and performing robust test plans that trace back to the component requirements. This includes lab-based testing and real-world field trials to verify sensor functionality and ensure automotive-grade performance.
- Partner with the Component Enablement software team to execute the relevant hardware component tests. Perform problem-solving activities during design, prototype, and production, driving root cause analysis and problem resolution.
- Partner with the Systems team to interpret system-level requirements and decompose into detailed component requirements for each sensor.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and reports related to the above.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field and 2+ years of experience OR Master’s degree in a related field and 0-3 years of experience.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience working with sensor modalities including LiDAR, Radar, Camera, Microphones, Inertial Navigation Systems (INS)
- Experience with Requirements Management Tools such as DOORS and Jama.
