Accountabilities:
- Design, build, and operate privacy engineering services that support data governance, user control, anonymization, pseudonymization, retention, deletion, and auditability.
- Implement privacy-by-design patterns and data minimization controls across products, services, data pipelines, and machine learning systems.
- Develop APIs, libraries, backend services, and developer tools that help engineering teams consistently apply privacy controls across technical environments.
- Partner with Security, Legal, Compliance, Product, Data, Machine Learning, and Infrastructure teams to translate privacy requirements into clear technical solutions.
- Support privacy reviews, data flow assessments, technical risk evaluations, and product assessments for new capabilities and data usage scenarios.
- Build and improve systems that enable automated privacy enforcement, governance workflows, and responsible data management.
- Enhance the reliability, observability, scalability, and maintainability of privacy systems through testing, monitoring, documentation, and thoughtful architecture.
- Apply privacy-enhancing technologies and engineering best practices to reduce risk and improve protection of sensitive information.
- Contribute to the development of technical standards and reusable solutions that make privacy practices easier to adopt across engineering teams.
- Communicate technical privacy considerations and tradeoffs effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of experience in software engineering, with experience building and operating production-grade software systems.
- Strong programming experience with languages such as Python, Go, Java, Scala, C++, Rust, or similar technologies.
- Experience designing and developing APIs, microservices, libraries, backend systems, or data platform capabilities.
- Experience working with privacy or security domains such as anonymization, pseudonymization, data retention, deletion, data lineage, access control, encryption, audit logging, or data minimization.
- Proven ability to translate privacy, security, compliance, or data protection requirements into technical workflows and software solutions.
- Knowledge of privacy-by-design principles, privacy-enhancing technologies, purpose limitation, consent management, retention policies, and data subject rights.
- Experience with data governance systems, data catalogs, lineage tools, personally identifiable information detection, redaction, or automated policy enforcement is preferred.
- Experience supporting privacy reviews, threat modeling, data flow mapping, or technical risk assessments for production environments.
- Familiarity with machine learning systems, financial services, lending platforms, or other highly regulated data environments is a plus.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex privacy engineering concepts and technical tradeoffs to diverse audiences.
- Competitive base salary range of $164,800 – $228,400 USD, depending on location, experience, skills, and qualifications.
