Job Description
At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.
Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.
The Role
We are looking for an AMR Integration Engineer to support integration and execution activities for advanced autonomous mobile robot programs. This role is responsible for connecting subsystem hardware, software, controls, and vehicle-level integration efforts to help move AMR platforms from development into reliable operational deployment.
The person in this role will work across engineering, validation, manufacturing, suppliers, and program teams to ensure AMR systems are integrated, tested, and ready for use. They will help drive issue resolution, coordinate integration activities, and support build and deployment readiness across robotics programs.
What You’ll Do
Lead and support integration activities for autonomous mobile robot systems across prototype, retrofit, and production builds
Coordinate cross-functional work across mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and systems engineering teams
Support subsystem bring-up, system integration, debugging, and issue resolution
Track and manage open integration issues, timing risks, and dependencies to support program execution
Partner with suppliers and internal teams to resolve hardware and system interface issues
Support validation planning, test execution, and readiness reviews for AMR deployments
Help ensure robots meet functional, integration, safety, and operational expectations before release
Communicate technical status, blockers, and recovery plans to program and engineering stakeholders
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, robotics, mechatronics, systems engineering, or a related technical field
3+ years of experience in robotics, systems integration, vehicle integration, electromechanical products, or related engineering work
Experience integrating complex hardware and software systems in a development or production environment
Experience troubleshooting technical issues across subsystem interfaces
Ability to work effectively across cross-functional engineering and supplier teams
Strong problem-solving, planning, and execution skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience with autonomous mobile robots, industrial automation systems, or robotic platforms
Experience with sensors, actuators, power systems, controls, and electromechanical integration
Experience supporting prototype builds, validation events, or launch readiness activities
Familiarity with requirements management, test planning, root cause analysis, and issue tracking
Experience working in fast-paced product development or advanced engineering programs
