As a Senior Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within Consumer and Community Banking, you will play a pivotal role on an agile team dedicated to designing, building, and delivering trusted, market-leading technology products. You will help ensure these products are secure, stable, and scalable, supporting the firm's strategic business objectives. In this role, you will play a key part in advancing our front-end design system. You will design, build, and maintain high-quality, reusable, and accessible UI components that power experiences across the firm. You will collaborate closely with designers, accessibility specialists, and fellow engineers to translate design specifications into robust, production-ready components.
Job Responsibilities
- Executes creative software solutions across component design, development, and technical troubleshooting, with the ability to think beyond conventional approaches to solve complex technical problems.
- Develops secure, high-quality production code for reusable UI components; review and debug code written by others to ensure best practices, accessibility, and code quality.
- Builds and maintains composable, and accessible front-end components, ensuring consistency, performance, and adherence to design and accessibility standards.
- Leverages AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows to accelerate component delivery, code review, testing, and documentation, while applying sound engineering judgment to validate and refine AI-generated output.
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues, improving the overall operational stability and reliability of software applications, build pipelines, and design token repositories.
- Champions communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness, adoption, and effective use of new and leading-edge technologies.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent formal training/certification
- 3+ years of applied software engineering experience.
- Advanced hands-on experience building front-end applications and reusable component libraries with React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Proficiency in modern front-end development, including component architecture, state management, and responsive, accessible UI implementation.
- Strong command of CSS and modern styling approaches, including CSS preprocessors (e.g., Sass/LESS) and CSS-in-JS.
- Hands-on experience building accessible components to WCAG standards, applying semantic HTML, ARIA roles, and correct keyboard interaction patterns.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., coding assistants, agentic/agent-based workflows) to enhance productivity, quality, and delivery speed.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn, evaluate, and adopt emerging tools and workflows, adapting to a rapidly evolving AI-augmented engineering landscape.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies such as SCRUM.
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery (CD) methods.
- Deep understanding of all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Experience developing and maintaining design systems, component libraries, or shared UI frameworks.
- Familiarity with modern front-end design systems Storybook.
- Experience with vanilla-extract or similar type-safe, zero-runtime CSS-in-JS styling libraries.
- Hands-on experience authoring AI enablement of assets such as custom instructions, skills, and prompts, or integrating tools via the MCP.
- Practical knowledge of web accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG, ARIA) and cross-browser compatibility.
- DevOps experience supporting token repositories, build systems, and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins or similar tools).
- Practical experience with component architecture.
