The Role and Impact


As a Manufacturing Operations Manager, you will serve as the technical owner of critical manufacturing equipment and processes within Intel's semiconductor manufacturing environment, while leading a team of engineers and technicians supporting high-volume production operations. This role requires strong hands-on equipment engineering expertise, with the ability to personally troubleshoot, repair, sustain, qualify, and optimize complex manufacturing and test equipment to ensure maximum tool availability, process stability, and production performance. You'll play a pivotal role in driving safety, quality, and efficiency across production, ensuring the team meets critical goals and delivers results. Your contributions will directly impact factory performance and operational success, enabling Intel to maintain its leadership in innovative manufacturing excellence.

This position is part of Intel's Manufacturing and Operations division, engineering functions across Assembly and Test Manufacturing which focuses on delivering world-class manufacturing capabilities to support Intel's cutting-edge technology. The team is essential to Intel's growth, ensuring quality, efficiency, and scalability in production processes while fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Engineering & Manufacturing Operations

  • Own, sustain, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize Assembly manufacturing equipment to achieve equipment uptime, yield, quality, and productivity targets while supporting production ramps and tool qualifications.

  • Drive equipment reliability and process improvements through root cause analysis, preventive maintenance, failure analysis, SPC, FMEA, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Own and support Test manufacturing equipment, including troubleshooting, repair, qualification, and performance optimization to ensure stable operations, throughput, and manufacturing readiness.

  • Lead quality containment and excursion management activities, including defect verification, early quality signal response, lot/hardware containment, disposition support, and corrective actions to minimize production and customer impact.

Leadership & People Management

  • Lead/coach and manage a team of technicians responsible for manufacturing operations, equipment maintenance, and repair.

  • Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining stringent safety and quality standards.

  • Establish and implement training and certification plans to equip the team with the necessary skills for production ramp requirements.

  • Supervise shift schedules, including workstation assignments, rotations, and PTO management, to ensure optimal staffing coverage.

  • Act as the first responder to resolve operational, safety, and security issues within assigned toolsets or areas.

  • Develop and execute tactical plans to streamline workflows and improve coordination between groups and divisions.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to address factory health challenges and operational issues.

  • Drive team results through effective goal setting, performance management, and leadership development.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Sciences, or related technical discipline with a minimum of 3+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, equipment engineering, or semiconductor manufacturing, OR Master's degree in a related field with 2+ years of relevant experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and sustainment experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum 2 years of people management, team leadership, or supervisory experience, including coaching, performance management, workforce planning, and employee development.

  • Experience supporting manufacturing quality systems, including defect verification, quality containment, excursion management, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).

  • Hands-on experience with equipment monitoring, process control, equipment qualification, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement activities.

  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), root cause analysis methodologies (8D, 5-Why, FMEA), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and operational safety standards.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop technical training plans, certification programs, and build team capabilities to support production ramp requirements.

  • Strong technical problem-solving skills with experience resolving equipment, process, and manufacturing issues in a high-volume production environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Semiconductor Assembly and/or Test manufacturing experience.

  • Experience with quality excursion management, Early Quality Signal response, defect containment, yield improvement, and manufacturing process optimization.

  • Proven experience leading equipment performance improvement, reliability enhancement, and productivity initiatives.

  • Experience supporting equipment installation, qualification, technology transfer, and production ramp activities.

  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing equipment and process control systems.

  • Master's degree (MBA or relevant technical field) and/or Lean Six Sigma certification.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and global engineering teams while driving results through technical leadership.
