Roles and Responsibilities
Technical Leadership: Translate high-level system requirements into robust firmware architectures and low-level design specifications.
- Full-Cycle Development: Lead the design, coding, testing, and debugging of mission-critical system software for the MarkVIe platform.
- Performance Optimization: Analyze and enhance the efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resources to meet stringent power generation requirements.
- Validation & Integration: Integrate new product designs and collaborate with firmware test teams to develop, perform, and oversee formal design verification and validation (V&V) plans.
- Quality Assurance: Lead high-quality technical reviews, including detailed design, source code, unit test frameworks, and requirement documentation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a primary interface between hardware design, systems engineering, and product teams.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion automated unit and regression testing initiatives; foster a culture of continuous improvement in both product quality and development processes.
- Lifecycle Management: Manage software throughout the entire product development lifecycle, from project initiation and design to release and long-term maintenance.
- Assessment: Evaluate and integrate third-party and open-source software components while maintaining compliance with cybersecurity standards.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 9–12 years of professional experience in embedded software programming, with a demonstrated ability to perform hands-on development and complex troubleshooting on embedded targets.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Advanced C/C++ programming skills.
- In-depth understanding of microprocessor architectures.
- Hands-on experience with preemptive, multitasking Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS), with a strong preference for QNX.
- Methodologies: Proven experience in Agile development environments and automated unit testing for C/C++.
- Toolsets: Proficiency in software configuration management tools, defect tracking systems, and peer-review processes.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven track record of working effectively in global, multi-functional teams.
Desired Characteristics
- Domain Expertise: Direct experience with MarkVIe control systems firmware development.
- Protocol Knowledge: Experience working with industrial communication protocols (e.g., MODBUS, Profibus, Profinet, Foundation Fieldbus, CAN, Industrial Ethernet).
- Security Mindset: Knowledge of secure software design and cybersecurity practices for industrial control systems.
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading global programs and mentoring junior engineers.
- Versatility: Exposure to C# development for tooling or utility applications is a strong plus.
